you're not alone. it's all we've got at this point. My hope is in the changing of the coaching staff
You are right, like I said I am not what you would even remotely call a Dak supporter. Please believe me when I say that.
So the past 10 SB Champs
Mahomes- You can pay him 5 million or 40 million he will take you to a SB. Once in a generation player
Season (2018,2016,2014)-Brady. GOAT. I am sure he was not on a rookie deal
2015 Season Manning- Was not on a rookie deal, was earning a lot of money, relative to cap
2017 Season Foles- Was the backup QB, lighting in a bottle.
2013 Season -Wilson won on a rookie contract
2012 Season- Flacco won during his 5th year option.
2011 Season- Eli won, not on a rookie deal
2010 Season- Rodgers, was on a 65 million dollar contract, has signed two larger deals since that time
2009 Season- Brees was also on a large deal.
So basically since the new CBA, only three rookie contract guys Flacco, Wilson,, Mahomes
Having said all of this, yes a great QB on a rookie contract is the biggest advantage you can have in pro sports. Well the Cowboys are past that stage. We as fans can posture all day, we know Jerry probably has no plan other than sign Dak to a 38 million dollar deal. I really wish we can get some compensation for Dak, but I don't trust this FO to find another QB.
Remember we lucked into Romo, and Dak. There was no master plan to draft, or sign as a undrafted FA ( Romo).
Honestly I dont know why we are arguing. I agree as one of my last staements lays it out. Rookie QB equates to greater success. If you can get a Russell or Mahomes on rookie contract yes you can get to a SB.Brady doesn't count b/c he actually takes less salary so his team can sign more good players. He makes up the difference with the endorsements that flow from winning. He knows that the Patriots can't sign enough talent to win if he's under a market value contract.
I think the NFL has changed and the new formula for winning is to get a rookie Qb and load up on the rest of the roster. It started with Russell Wilson in Seattle and that success was copied by LA and Philly to great effect. Sure Philly lucked out that Foles was able to step in, but there plan A was to play Wentz and go big in free agency.
The Broncos and Manning were built for a 2 year run. Manning was not one of the top 5 paid Qbs.
The basic problem Is that QB salaries have sky rocketed as a % of the salary cap. In 2015, Manning made 11% of his teams cap space. Dak is asking for 17%- 20% of the cowboys cap space. If that's a recipe for success, it will be a first.

BTW, Manning was the highest paid QB in 2012. Look it up on over the cap.
He doesn't really want 40 mil. It's about length and guaranteed $...he turned down 33 mil a year cause of the length amd guarantees

But where we differ a bit, is you eventually have to pay some QB. Is Dak the guy to pay? I don't know.
I do know that Goff is terrible, Wentz might be ok but neither one of those guys is Mahomes or Brady, Rodgers, Wilson.
How much do we trust this Front office to get the QB position right? I don't think I have any trust other than trading a bunch of picks and drafting Burrow, or Lawrence. I don't even know if Tua is going to be good.
Should we trade 4 or 5 first round picks for Burrow? It actually might not be a bad idea.. Our QB costs for the next 5 years will be covered. We can sign every significant Free Agent. Try to make a 4 year run.
I was in high school/ early college that last time we had real SB success. What has this team done over the past 25 years. 1996 was our last championship game.
He was in Denver that year.I was referring to his time in Denver.
Its not arguing so much as debating..........which differs in that we aren't trading personal insults.
I totally agree on not trusting Jerry and company to find a QB......... but Qb is MM strength. Let him find us one. The man has worked with Montana, Favre, and Rodgers. He knows what he needs.
My fear is that we pay Dak as if he is Russel Wilson, continue to struggle scoring against good defenses, and can't address our own defense in a significant way b/c we got Dak sucking up 20% of the cap space.
He was in Denver that year.
Guys,"Manning continued to rack up huge paydays with the Colts and then over the last four seasons with the Broncos. The Broncos forced Manning to take a $4 million pay cut for the 2015 season to $15 million after he struggled at the end of the 2014 season. Manning recouped the $4 million through bonuses tied to winning the AFC Championship and Super Bowl."
So Peyton Manning was making $15 million and he was the highest paid? That was 5 years ago. Has salaries doubled in 4 years?
Dak is sooooooo Great he's without a contract!Who’s he going to sign with?
Does anybody care?
anybody know of any teams looking for a guy with Daks skills to pay $40 million dollars per year to?
man, he made $2m last year on this team and I can’t think of a reason he deserves a pay raise.
Unless the cowboys give him a pay raise,!I don’t think he is a starting QB next year. Where else could he start and who is looking for a $40m version of dak prescott???????
You are right, we are debating, but I think we might almost be saying the same thing. What do you think we should do?
I feel as though we need to get something for Dak, I can't see him walk away for nothing. Even if we only get 1 first round pick. We got 4 years out of him, I am not even asking for 2 firsts.
If the front office says we are signing Keenum, and moving on from Dak, I am 100% fine.
He will sign with Dallas and at leass than $40 million a year, so your questions are irrelevant.Who’s he going to sign with?

I think there will be plenty of teams who would pay Dak and trade for him.nobody is giving us a 1st round pick for dak. If dak agreed to play for $500k dollars, we could prob trade him for a 1st rounder. He is untradeable with how much money he wants.
let him walk
