What the hell are you talking about? Dak is NEVER going to be a free agent. Jerry Jones will never let that happen. Pay attention to what Jerry has been saying. He has been very clear he will use the franchise tag on Dak before he ever becomes a free agent if they can't come to an agreement on a long term deal first. Furthermore, lose the $40M propaganda bit. It will not take that much to get him to re-sign. The price tag is much lower than that and its already been negotiated. They now need to agree on the length of the contract and then the deal will be done.

Not so sure about that Stephan Jones said today he hasn't spoken to Dak's agent since september, seems more like they are very far apart than are very close to an agreement

You are right, we are debating, but I think we might almost be saying the same thing. What do you think we should do?
I feel as though we need to get something for Dak, I can't see him walk away for nothing. Even if we only get 1 first round pick. We got 4 years out of him, I am not even asking for 2 firsts.
If the front office says we are signing Keenum, and moving on from Dak, I am 100% fine.

I like the tag and trade but thats something that would require a lot of cooperation with Dak and his agent............ the problem is that what incentive does Dak have to do it? His agent may be a greedy SOB but hes not dumb. He knows Dak isn't looking at 35-40M on the free agent market. They know the best deal is with the cowboys and that they have all the leverage.

Jerry came out today and said their is no path forward that doesn't involve Dak not being a Dallas Cowboy.............thus further undermining his ability to negotiate. Sometimes I wonder how he heck someone so dumb made so much money.

that’s a $31m raise for one player. That would be real stupid
Its stupid until you dont have a good quarterback and you get way worse. Your going to havento pay a quarterback at some point. It's not like some ppl feel about a rb and just keep getting a new one every 5 years

I think Jerry is willing to use the tag 2 years in a row if need be, the cost would probably average out at about 33-34m over 2 years, giving him 2 more years with Dak even if Dak doesn't sign the long term deal the team is offering, so i think the team has a number in mind and years on a deal they want and if they don't get it they will tag him this season and next if they have to then just move on. 2 years on a tag is still a path forward with Dak but it gives the Cowboys time to look at other and be prepared. I've said all along i expect Dak to get tagged and i still believe that will happen because he hasn't done anything yet to warrant the kind of deal he is reportedly after.

Who’s he going to sign with?
Does anybody care?

anybody know of any teams looking for a guy with Daks skills to pay $40 million dollars per year to?

man, he made $2m last year on this team and I can’t think of a reason he deserves a pay raise.
Unless the cowboys give him a pay raise,!I don’t think he is a starting QB next year. Where else could he start and who is looking for a $40m version of dak prescott???????

So, i'm guessing you dislike Dak. lol. I wasn't sure.

The only disadvantage to doing that is that you can't spread the cap hit over 5 years.............and its also not a given that Dak will play on a franchise tag.
