Lol... Payton had Brees for how long? He's won 1 Super Bowl. Yeah that will get him in the HOF, but really when you have a qb like Brees, isn't it underachieving not to have more?

Maybe if there were a bunch of multiple SB winning combos. But there really hasn't been. There's been one............ the Pats and everyone is trying to catch them.

From your lips to God's ears.

Hopefully with a new coaching staff. I don't think there's a frog's chance Dak can salvage his career for the current coaching staff.

Lol....I think so, as I've said he's done it, that part I agree with Jerry. It's clear he's struggling now. It's clear there's plays within this offensive system, he just doesn't make. They're not going to tell the public he's still finding his way, and that they're limited with him until he is consistently being productive. The FO isn't going to allow it. It takes even the top drafted qbs years to get it. Only a select few do it consistently early.

It wasn't a fluke , he showed a glimpse of what he's capable of, what he can do, he's still working to be consistent. He wasn't suppose to start in 2016. That wasn't the plan for him.

Nope, I have been saying this from year one with Dak. These stats look eerily familiar to these:

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GrifRo01.htm

who came into the exact situation that Dak came into with a rookie RB dominating :

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MorrAl00.htm

Dak's first year was the product of the NFL having to adjust from an inept offense the Cowboys had the year before to one with Zeke Elliot. Dak did not have to think, he just played with veterans helping him out on the sideline and half the field to read. You could tell from the beginning of the 2017 season that he was not capable of doing as much as he thought he was, and the more he thought, the worse he got.

I have no explanation however for his absolute loss of any semblance of pocket presence. That was one redeeming factor that Dak had in 2016 that he does just not possess.

Who cares about stats, I'mmtalking about leading teams to wins. Everybody's looking for an elite or top 10 qb.
Fix what's around him, pay him as a middle of the pack qb then roll. Ben Won a Super Bowl early and he wasn't good either. We know Zeke and the Oline was the driving force, but that's 90 % of the qbs in the league.

So?

And FWIW, wasn't the poster talking about Romo as a potential Hall of Famer if he had a better head coach? Not Payton himself making the Hall of Fame? Or am I misreading your post?

Certainly you aren't trying to argue in some way Garrett is just as good as Payton.

Not with the defenses they have put on the field!

He said If Romo had Payton as a coach, I don't think it matters, because Romo isn't Brees.
Nobody said Garrett was as good as Brees, you brought up Garrett. actually I think Payton is who he is because he has Brees. I believe that with almost every perceived coach.

Is the Coach the GM?
He doesn't need to be, he should have a say, and I'm sure a Coach of Payton's rep does. If I remember correctly he had a lot to do with Rob Ryan and Greg

This doesn't answer my question. You responded to a post where the poster suggested Romo might be a Hall of Famer himself if he had Payton as his coach. You seemed to be thinking he was calling Payton a Hall of Famer.

On another note, I will give you credit. Despite the evidence just continuing to mount how mediocre Garrett is, you just stay the course.

I know he's not saying Payton would be in the HOF he's saying Romo would be if Payton was his qb, I don't believe that, Payton wouldn't win a Super Bowl or many playoffs here.
This has nothing to do with Garrett, I don't know where you pulled that bs.

When the poster suggests Romo would be a Hall of Famer if he had Payton as his coach, and you say no, you are, in fact, making a comparison with Garrett. Just because you didn't actually mention his name doesn't mean an implication or comparison isn't there.

No, I'm not. That's your interpretation. Romo isn't in, (which I believe he has a chance,) Romo isn't in because of Romo. He's made his own share of mistakes that hindered his success.
