Let's not get carried away. He said himself that this was a simplified playbook against second and third tier players.

It may help him to have had this experience, but it certainly doesn't mean he should be given the reins.

LOL..

If you are going hurry-up a lot, it mean either your OC sucks or your QB sucks. And after 2012, we all know where the power over the offense was being stripped from.

https://www.espn.com/blog/dallas/co...look-back-time-for-more-hurry-up-from-cowboys

Following Sunday’s game at Atlanta, I wrote that it is time for Jason Garrett to cede some control of the offense to Tony Romo, especially given how well the Cowboys operated on their lone touchdown drive of the game.

On Monday, Garrett was asked if the Cowboys will incorporate more hurry-up in the future.

“That’s an interesting question,” Garrett said. “I think there are some game situations that have come into play in the last couple of weeks. We’ve been down. In the case of (Sunday) night’s game, we were down two scores with seven minutes to go. So we have to plan a little more of a hurry-up mode, whether we’re in the huddle, huddling quickly or getting to the line of scrimmage and just throwing the football more than we had throughout the rest of the ball game. We’ve been able to throw the ball fairly well around here, and when we get in that mode and we throw it a lot we’ve been able to move it. We do have to factor in the fact that the defenses are playing a little bit differently based on what the score is and what the game situation is. To say we’re going to start the game like that, it’s unrealistic to think the defense would play the same way.”

That’s the only time Dak moves the ball consistently his whole career here, as teams are not trying to give up the big play to end the halves, so they tend to give up the underneath. You basically know how the defense is playing. It speeds up the decision-making process for the QB and Dak is slow. When a coach has to go hurry up earlier, it’s a change-of-pace, because the offensive game plan isn’t working, so they try and catch the defense off guard,

The real question is why did our offense look so much better with Dak calling the plays? Are we getting all the juice we can with our offensive coaching? Grier went from stumbling and fumbling around to looking like one of the best qbs in preseason.

Again, two pivotal and game changing INT's would argue otherwise to your statement that Dak reads defenses well.
The 1st int was a very poor route by Gallup. The 2nd int was definitely on Dak. But he READS defenses very well, like I said. And with your analogy, no QB is any good. Rush's last game....he threw bad picks. So, that mean he sucks. All QBs suck according to you.

Dak's ability to read defenses and momentum has taken yet another improvement level to his own play. That's a win for Dallas.
The QB reads the defense after the play has been called and both teams line up pre-snap. Calling plays and reading defenses are totally seperate things.

Think about it, what makes Moore so much more qualified? Just because he held a title of OC? IMO any veteran quarterback can call his own plays. This is a game, not rocket science. You don't need a doctorate.

I think he proved tonight that he’s more than capable of calling his own plays. I’m not saying all the time. Just when certain situations dictate it. Hurry up offense, 2 minute warning for the first half and 2nd. I think we’ll see more of that this season. All great QB’s have called their own plays during games from time to time. Some more than others. Let him take control when needed.
He should retired and become a coach.

I was impressed with Dak tonight. Dude has a feel for the flow of the game. I really enjoyed it! Honestly I hope he has more freedom in this new style offense I think it really benefits him.
