Jerry knows that there are enough fans that don't understand football that will stick with the new Cowboys regardless of losing. He can offer up any excuse and they will eat it up like cake. Some really don't care that the Cowboys don't achieve greatness because they are so caught up in their fantasy football stats.
True Cowboys fans are just out of luck, and have been for the last 25 years. Jerry doesn't care about them.
I don’t think he doesn’t care about fans, he just truly thinks so highly of himself that he thinks he is indeed the best man for the job.

He probably thinks his kid is the second best thing, and he couldn’t be more wrong.

They are competing against teams that aren’t afraid to make moves to get better, and Jerry and son are in way over their head.

But they are entitled billionaires who think no one is better than them.

He is senile. I been saying that for years. Even though I defend him at times. But that is to be more of a contrarian point of view. But not anymore.
They need to make big changes in their philosophy going forward.

3. Extend him out to lower his cap hit and try to build a better team around him.

I would see if we can do a one for one for Kyler Murray with the Cardinals. Supposedly they want a mature quarterback and their salaries actually workout. It’s a big gamble because of Kyler’s size and ACL injury but he has serious arm and leg talent.

Dak would have to agree to waive his no trade clause for Dallas to send him anywhere. Why would he do that? Being the Cowboys QB is lucrative, whether you win or not.

I remember having Dak on his rookie deal. But we were completely screwed by Romo's dead cap money. Ugh

This is why JIMMY JOHNSON bailed on this organization DECADES ago! JIMMY knew then that his senile friend would get in his own way and destroy everything he was building in Big D. The machine that JIMMY built was so great that this organization won a SB when he wasn't even in the building. JERRY brought in the class clown Switzer to do standup comedian BS at the podium while the players JIMMY signed ran the club all the way to the SB!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU JIMMY JOHNSON and to hell with you Jerry Jones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An even bigger indictment along the same lines….when Parcells left….the comment about how in a few years you’ll never know he was ever there. That was absolutely a backhanded way of saying that Jerry would screw up that loaded roster.

And he 100% did.

Romo may have been the worst thing to ever happen to this organization in hindsight. Look what it enabled.

Yeah if they extend Dak I'm going to stop watching.
Get ready to start making plans for your Sundays next Fall. They have too many free agents to carry a $49 million cap hit at QB. This was their plan, for better or worse.

I have never understood the cap thing... can you be kind enoug to explian the dead cap space etc etcetc please?
When a player is released before the end of his contract, any guaranteed money that hasn't been paid will count towards his team's cap. It's known as dead space because the player is no longer on the team, but his remaining guaranteed money occupies cap space.

Trade him to GB

Spotrac after these moves has us at $11 million in cap space

Trade Dak to GB - $24 million hit
Release - Zeke and Lewis
Restructure: Tank, Martin, Gallup
Green Bay has late first round pick Jordan Love. He's spent 3 years watching, just like Rodgers did. They have no incentive to trade for Dak Prescott.

Guess which option the Cowboy brain trusts are most likely to choose? Dak's contract was made to restructure and that's exactly what the team will do. Dak's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Exactly what I've been saying all week. Not that hard to figure out folks.

May be worth it.
Draft a QB put him on notice.
That's what I think we do. Draft a QB this year with a mid round pick and then next year with a higher pick. Then groom the young QBs and have Dak be the backup to whoever wins the job. We let Tony ride the pine making 20 million for a rookie. We can let Dak ride the pine making 40 million. If we're going to lose I'd rather lose building for the future.

There's 2 stats that really get to me. 1) 17 picks in 14 games. 2) at least a pick or fumble every other game for 4 years.

that's rookie numbers. I'd rather take my rookie lumps with a rookie than a 7 or 8 year veteran. Dak's been a TO machine for years and it's not getting better, it's getting worse. I'd rather not waste any more seasons trying to teach an old dog new tricks.

We're mad and we see it, that doesn't mean Jerry is mad and he sees it. It sounds like business as usual so far.

Here are the options with Dak

1. Cut him and rebuild. Cost is 89M in dead 2023 cap space.
2. Plan to replace him after the 2023 season. Cost is a 49M cap hit this year.
3. Extend him out to lower his cap hit and try to build a better team around him.

Guess which option the Cowboy brain trusts are most likely to choose? Dak's contract was made to restructure and that's exactly what the team will do. Dak's not going anywhere anytime soon.
None of those are very good option.
I guess if you're a business man you'd ride out the contract, while trying to find a sucker to trade with.

You just laid it out to where the "Cowboys brain trust" would be stupid to let him go unless we traded him somehow

I would definitely draft a QB and put some pressure on Dak from within. Win or we move on. We don’t see an improvement in INT reduction— you sit. You fail to deliver in key games— you sit.

He Wally Pipped Tony— he can be Wally Pipped in return.
We should be churning QBs as a matter of course. Nothing against Dak, that's just smart football. Dak on his rookie contract was a great deal. At 40mil a year, not so much.
We got Dak in the 4th. We just lost to Mr Irrelevant. You can afford to run QBs on cheap rookie contracts. It courts disaster to run them on free agent contracts.
There is QB talent coming up in the dray. We should bring in more and work on developing it.
