I dont want to re-sign Dak but Jerry may have no choice because they refuse to develop QBs.
Thats the issue for sure, I dont think Dak is a bad QB, but you should always be looking for the next player at some positions.. to me QB is one because if you hit on a young one its a huge cap relief... doesnt really matter to me if the current QB is good enough as we know if they are close to the same then a rookie contract QB helps build the team much easier.

His chance hasn't finished yet. You're just going to have to deal with it.
Peyton Manning was in year 9 when he got to his first SB and won. I believe that's the furthest into a QB's career that happened. Rich Gannon was much older when he got to his first, but he lost.

Dak is going into year eight, so his clock is ticking. In a couple more years they'll be asking him to make NFL history.

If you are talking about the same team that drafted him it was Manning I think.
But Stafford was in his 13th year in 2021 while winning with the Rams after being traded by the Lions.

Good question...

I say Dak has to throw for 3,500+ yards, 30+ passing TDs, 12 or less INTs, 66+ completions %, 95+ passer rating, reduce his mistakes, make smarter in-game decisions and lead this team hopefully at least to a conference championship game (has a lot to do with the team as well).

Oh, and hopefully take a paycut to help the team. If he gets greedy once again, time to look for his replacement ASAP. Hope Cowboys draft Houston QB Clayton Tune in the 5th round or so just to develop.

And then you woke up. Sweet dream, huh.

In addition Prescott is regressing at this point because his wheels are not of much use any longer and he is not and never will be an elite pocket passer so he's effectively irrelevant. He's a JAG and his influence is immaterial as a result. It comes down to how much the D can carry him again in turnovers, number of possessions and excellent starting position of drives.

"Prescott in all likelihood will be the Cowboys QB for the remainder of the decade and that is more than likely a very good thing."

Wow, Dak remain the Cowboys franchise QB from today in 2023 through 2030? That's 8 more seasons of Dak! He would be 37, going on 38 by then.

Can you imagine how many would lose their minds? Some for sure would change teams waaaaay before then. LOOOOOL

:p
Know one is losing their mind over Dak or the Cowboys.
Personally, I am in laughing and humor mode now for the last 5 years.
Keeping Dak as you post till he's 37 as a Cowboy will destroy this team from the gridiron to the fan base and all the way to the cash register.
Dak friendly is a JOKE and has produced a massive Turd considering the talent he has had around him.
Look on the bright side you and your Dak buds will be the only ones left here and not even able to find anyone to debate as 30 years have taken their toll on the fan base.

They should offer the 26th pick for Trey Lance. Mike McCarthy developed Rodgers so it's worth the gamble. Lance is much more talented than Dak.

The difference without Dak is we don’t win 12+ games in back to back seasons, making the playoffs both seasons and winning a road playoff game against Tom Brady. Do you think Washington is going to go anywhere with Sam Howell? Lol They signed Jacoby Brissett, just another in a long list of castoffs they’ve been stuck with. If it was up to fans like you we would be in the same sinking boat as Washington. They’ve made the playoffs one time since they let Cousins walk and that was with a 7-9 record. You really don’t know what’s going on if you don’t think there would be a difference with or without Dak.
iand the problem with your argument is that the QB is the most important position and dak is paid elite money to win playoffs and SBs. in 8 years he has failed. The 10 to 12 win seasons mainly due to the considerable weakness of the NFC east , which Dak and the cowboys with him failed to capitalize. Heck Cooper rush win percentage is better than dak this season LOL .
But if regualr season championships is your ceiling, then that is not what most cowboy fans want. Another fact you may want to come to terms with , is that a 2nd year QB like Hurts has already catapulted his team to the SB and is far better than Dak. Daniel jones may not be far either. The facts on daks don't support your delusion with him.

Even good QBs are making elite money these days just look around the league. Daniel Jones just got paid $40 million per. That’s becoming the average salary for a starting QB. A QB doesn’t have to be close to Patrick Mahomes to make elite money. Anyone who can’t see that Dak is better than a lot of QBs in the league is lost. Anyone who doesn’t want to pay elite money for a QB is going to be stuck with one that likely has a losing QB record and is bouncing around the league. So what’s your master plan at QB, dump Dak for a cheap castoff or draft one and hope they turn out? From listening to you, you would settle for Cooper Rush. Lol

That’s ridiculous to say the nfc east has been weak. There were two NFC East teams in the playoffs two years ago and Washington almost made it as well. Last year three NFC East teams made the playoffs.

To be fair the East has been weak, but is improving quickly. Even the Comm's end of season performance (behind a 5th Rd Rookie QB) and their Defense may become a thorn in Dak's side (ala 49ers) for years to come. Interesting in that they've gone to Brissett, who statistically was was only a tick short of Dak 2022, which is one of the options rather than pay a good QB elite money (and use the CAP to improve/maintain the rest of the roster).

From all the off-season moves so far I feel that a Dak extension is a long shot at best.
They have enough now for 1 move decent FA and the new Draft pool unless I missed something here.
Prove it (Please Finally) or lose it season coming up for Mr.Prescott.
Extension? Extension? Extension? No! No! No? Hell no! Don’t even joke about it !

The NFC teams made the playoffs because of their positions in the conference. It wasn’t because they had good teams. The NFCE has been terrible over the last few years.
