Unless the Cowboys rookie QB is a top 5 overall pick, the Cowboys will need to sit him for at least a half season to accumulate the knowledge and training to be the starter.

This is the reason Dak should be the starter next season.

How did Jalen Hurts look before the Eagles stacked their team with all that talent? Dak is not Mahomes or elite, but you can win if THEY ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THE CAP SAVINGS
Hurts was a winner in college and now is.

It's not a matter of need to Jerry and Stephen. It's more about doing whatever honors their $40 million dollar investment. He'll be back. Count on it. The Dallas FO won't always respond to need. They respond to whatever suits their druthers and there's little or nothing we can do about it. That's life for ya.

I think we have to remember.. SF had their 3rd string in there. And he looked more calm and composed than Dak. He took more sacks than Dak. He was under more pressure than Dak. He threw into more tight windows than Dak. His top two playmakers in McCaff and Deebo were taken away.. and yet he still found a way to protect the ball, keep the chains moving and stay calm.

I do not personally believe that Purdy is ever going to be an elite QB.. but that is ok.. as long as you understand what you can and can't do.. and then play around that.

The big problem is that Dak believes his own hype.. and he wants to make those big plays.. and yet he comes up empty time and time again. You just can't win a superbowl with 25% of your cap going to a guy that can't make those plays when they are needed. Just can't happen.

SF QB room.. its entire room costs less than 50% of Daks cap hit. 3 QB options that are better than Dak and less than half the cap hit. That is something that should scare our front office. And our fan base.
+1.

We often hear people saying we have to keep Dak because its hard to find good QBs..............well SF found 3 who are better than anything we have in our QB room.

Most teams in the league have a starting quality QB. Quite a few teams have backups who are quite good. It's not as hard as people make it out to be.

Plenty of this said it at the time too. 100% I think the rest of the league has woken up to the fact that you either need a) rookie QB that allows you to fill the skill positions around him or b) a proven performer that is worth the $$.

Some might argue that Stafford is an example of a mid range guy 'doing enough' to get a ring.. but I would say that he had reliably and consistently shown that he elevated the team around him.

My big issue with Dak.. and especially with us 'paying' Dak.. was that he has never actually shown he is a good QB. It is worth saying again.. 2016 he walked into a dream job and had Zeke rushing for 100+ every game.. we were dominant. 2017 he struggled - receivers blamed, 2018 - we gave up a heap to get a better receiving core.. he was inconsistent.. zeke was still rushing significant totals, we blamed coaching.. he gave up INT in the playoffs, 2019 - he was inconsistent going from literal 'perfect' games to games with a passer rating in the 60s. We never could get any momentum.. and Dak struggling without a truly dominant run game.

2020 we tag him.. he gets injured..
2021 we give him the monster contract before he has even thrown a ball.

The dude literally got one of the biggest paydays in league history.. with a record of exactly two wildcard play off wins.. after coming off a season in which he didn't play. I mean you couldn't make this stuff up.

It was crazy then and it has been proven to be crazy now. Sheer stupidity. And for those just 'waking up' to the Dak reality.. and thinking he has 'fallen away'.. he hasn't fallen away.. the problem is that he was never that good to start with. He walked into a crazy good squad and used his limited talents to beat up on weak opponents in a mostly weak division. As soon as there was ever a challenge.. he folded like a cheap suit.

The rest of the league knows this.. you simply can not overpay for the likes of Dak, Cousins.. and even Carr coming on the market.. same thing.. buyer beware.
Dallas’ options were limited. No way am I defending Jerruh, but you absolutely had to pay him at that point. It would’ve been smart to extend him right after that ridiculous 1st season and there were talks of doing that. The QBs left in the playoffs on rookie deals will all get massive contracts so don’t kid yourself that they’re going to be let go or will sign to a cap/team friendly deal.

Wow, and you think what you just said made any sense? LOL

Thats why they are the #1 defense. Because this is what they do to good QB's on a regular basis.
Dak made mental errors and missed wide open players and that had nothing to do with the quality of the 9ers defense.

His picks were nothing but bad reads. Like awful.

I am not a fanboy, but I have been impressed with his running ability.
But he lacks leadership.
Only a matter of time before he hits the bench.
Between losing the locker room and the boo festival at home games well you get the picture here.
After the last two playoff losses to the Niners, how many of our defensive stars are going to give 100% for inepto Dak?
Expect a move in the off-season concerning a new QB pick up either thru FA or the Draft.
Dak's days are numbered as QB 1.....

Well because he makes a lot of money and he promised he will have fewer interceptions next year. What more do you need?

Top 10 QB that when he is not playing the #1 D and forced to play with Zeke is capable of 300 yard 5 TD games like the bucs game. Consistently leads this team to the playoffs and runs the #1 scoring offense in the NFL year in and year out.
Repeatedly missing open WRs is not what a top 10 QB does.

Too funny Dak stats, the regular season inflate his stats against the weak and scrubs, but 12 points when it matters. What was it last year 17, he worked hard to get better, guess he should try something else. We know it’s the jags he plays with on that #1 offensive, he just got out played by a 7th rookie, keep selling your BS , Dak legacy to this point is big game choker and will stay that way until he does something.

It has nothing to do with being a Dak “faithful”….faithful is for religion.
He deserves a chance to play next yr with a full off season of rest / rehab / etc on his thumb. Simple as that. I think everyone would give any other player that chance. To not grade their season when they had an injury so serious that the player needed SURGERY & MISSED A 1/4 OF THE SEASON !!!
COME ON MAN GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK !!!!
YOU’D DO IT FOR ANY OTHER PLAYER AND YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Hurts is on a rookie second round contract. Dak wanted his money and lost his toys. He now sucks, he looked great in 2016 when that offensive talent was great.
How is a dak led offense the number 1 offense in the nfl when he got back from injury able to do this with a untalented offense and being a bum? Are you saying Kellen Moore is a genius play caller?

During that time number 1 offense yards and scoring. What makes this even more impressive is the first few games dak was back he didn't even throw for 250 yrds.
