Dak will be benched by week 10 come next season bet on it!Lets just deal in facts so that we look at reality and not Romo cry baby fantasy:
These were the Daks stats in 2016 his rookie year. Not only did he win rookie of the year, but it was the 2nd best QB rookie season in NFL history. In short, its about as good as it ever gets for a QB:
2016: 3667 passing yards, 23 TD's and 4 picks, 68 % completion percentage and 104.9 QBR
282 yards rushing and 6 rushing TD's
Totally and completely off the charts.
2017 first 8 games of the season before Zeke suspension and Tyrone Smith injury:
2017: 1818 passing yards, 16 TD's and 5 picks, 102.85 QBR
195 rushing yards and 4 rushing TD's
If you double those totals for the first 8 games he was on pace for these numbers:
2017: 3636 passing yards, 32 TD's, 8 picks
390 rushing yards and 8 rushing TD's, 102.85 QBR
Those stats are almost identical, and you could argue even better than his rookie year. Passing TD's are on pace for 32 instead of 23. Rushing yards and TD's going up also. So he was on pace for improvement his 2nd year.
We all know what happened the last 8 games. Now can any of the Dak haters think of anything that changed starting with the Atlanta game that might have made a major impact on Dak's ability to do his job properly?
So when the facts are shown above they speak of a much different story then the one being told by the Romo cry babies. Dak is one hell of a QB and is all the way a franchise QB. Sure back up the Oline and Zeke will be back and there should be no reason why he isnt right back to continuing to improve.
Dak will be benched by week 10 come next season bet on it!
Stats that have dink and dunk passes are nice but they don't win games or throw accurate passes.Dak is not i repeat is not qualified to be a Franchise QB on any NFL team. Save this post as it will be proven correct come next season!
P.S. May i eat crow on the above as a Boys fan above and beyond any player but i highly doubt Dak will prove me wrong....
Been reading this board for a while and all of Romo's biggest critics , I.E. CowboyRoy and others , now seem to make Dak out to be the second coming when an unbiased fan would tell you that Dak is the definition of an average, journeyman QB in this league.
Look around the league. The bench is full of "Dak Prescotts " that had a lighnitnig in a bottle type of year.
Foles once threw for 30 something TD's and 2 picks in a season..
The argument is getting old to be honest.
Dak is what he is.
As CowboyRoy said , our best chance of winning is if we put the game in Zeke's hands..
That should tell you everything you need to know about Dak Prescott..
We don't have the front office or coaching to get it done. Dak was good as long as all the stars align. If anything is off, so is Dak. I hope he can grow and become special. I really don't want the parade of morons we had following Aikman.Dak is good now. The scary thing for the league is he could get better.
Shore up some depth on the o-line, get Tyron a good doctor, and add a weapon or two in the TE/Receiver group and this offense will be top three. Book it.
We have the picks and the cap space to get this done.
So you are saying that he really got going during crunch time in the 2nd half? Got it!!
300 yards and 3 TD's. Good thing we didnt ask him to win the game.![]()
There is obviously 2 polar opposite camps of fans here: 1) Dak is one of the greatest Cowboys QBs ever and destined for the HoF, and 2) Dak is the worst Cowboys QB ever and is a bust. The reality is Dak is somewhere in between.
You're correct in that Dak is what he is, but that's not necessarily what he can BECOME. Dak was a 4th round project QB that was 3rd on the depth chart when circumstances forced him into the starting role. I guarantee the Cowboys didn't want him in that role in 2016. All "projects", be they QB or other players, need time to develop, hence, they're labeled a project. All players need time to develop, but it's given the "project" players truly need more time (Rico Gathers is another project player). Dak is 2 years into his project. I don't know how the project will conclude - I've seen enough to be hopeful, and I've seen enough to be concerned. Time will tell.
And you are absolutely correct about the lightening in a bottle. I've said that repeatedly about teams. Carolina goes 15-1 and makes it to the Super Bowl, but then the next year is 6-10 (I believe) and missed the playoffs. That's what the Cowboys did in 2014 and 2016. Look at the Eagles and Jags this year. Time will tell if they simply caught lightening in a bottle or will be a force for several years to come.
IMO, Dak and the Cowboys in 2016 might have been the worst scenario for the long-term success of the team. It set unrealistic expectations for Dak and, by extension, the team. But I loved it and would take it all over again.
Nate Newton said a few times that you just don't let a young QB get shellacked from his blind side all day in a game. It will affect his play going forward. It does look like that's how the season played out. However you want to complain about the oline after that point, Dak was just missing guys too.We all know what happened the last 8 games. Now can any of the Dak haters think of anything that changed starting with the Atlanta game that might have made a major impact on Dak's ability to do his job properly?
Very true Greg. Same for Garrett. If he can completely stay out of the picture and we start winning again he won't suck as bad lol. Is that you in that picture or a relative? have an idea..Dak had a remarkable Rookie season which gave us hope for the upcoming era.
His sophomore season wasn’t as convincing but we saw enough from last year to continue on.
But for the sake of argument if we’re basing our evaluations on this season alone would we be as sold ? Seems like a fair question.
And I wasn’t a Romo homer. I criticised him as well while giving him props when deserved.
It’s a shame we can’t call out players and their performance in some situations without being labeled a hater. Call me a critic if you like . I like Dak. Was extremely excited riding the winning wave but after this year I have some concerns with some of his weaknesses that were more exposed for whatever reason.
As usual winning cures many ills and if we can get back on the winning wave his weaknesses won’t be as glaring.
My takeaway here:
As long as everyone on the offense stays healthy, we don't face any competition and don't ask Dak to win any games for us, he'll have excellent numbers?
Okay, cool.
So… Folks making this argument would rather have Mr. Prescott over a young Tony Romo?
Using the criteria here and applying it to the Eagles you could make a case Nick Foles is better than McNabb.
I'm in line with the rest of the league's general managers, scouts, and folks that really know football in regards to Prescott. I feel he's a good spot starter and a premium backup in the league, but he's always going to be a system guy that will never carry a team to a championship.
That's okay. I'm so glad we picked him, and I've been pleasantly surprised. He's exceeded all my expectations. I just hope the brain trust doesn't pass on a guy with franchise potential thinking Prescott is that guy. This team would have been on a path to a championship if Jerry didn't miscalculate on Tony Romo's health and pass on Wentz, or Goff.

Thanks Don and that’s my father.Very true Greg. Same for Garrett. If he can completely stay out of the picture and we start winning again he won't suck as bad lol. Is that you in that picture or a relative? have an idea..
He's a superstar - as you see on the endorsements. They don't let Case Keenum do those for a reason.
I shot a 34 on the front nine in my round of golf today.
Second nine I accidentally broke my driver and shot a 50.
Oh, but I'll ignore what I ACTUALLY shot, and just give myself an excuse to dismiss the back nine. I'll double my front nine score instead. Nice, I shot a 68!
No. Just no.
Good quarterbacks don't need everything perfect to be effective. Your argument is beyond flawed.
