I was at the game and watched Rush walk onto the field and thought, ‘What happened?’ My brother was watching on TV and texted that they were looking at Dak’s hand, then something showed up on a screen in-stadium that read ‘hamstring’. At that moment, Dak was on the sideline, helmet on, standing there like he was ready to return to the game. He stood there the entire offensive series, and after we got the ball back on the next series, I could no longer find him on the sideline.

My first thought when Rush was in and Dak looked ready to go was, ‘Maybe they want to see what Rush can do since we’re playing so poorly’. Rush looked like a lost dog on the field….just can’t play QB without a competent OL, only one legit WR threat, and no run game, I don’t care who the QB is.

I’m not a conspiracy guy, but it crossed my mind that we might use an ‘injured’ Dak to bail on the season, get the draft pick, and not look like we’re tanking. We can’t fix the run game this year and Rico def isn’t the answer to any question. I like him, but he’s no RB1. If healthy, the defense just needs a little weight on the interior line, but the offense needs serious OL, WR, and RB help.

Idk…. It’s disappointing after three 12 win seasons. Complain about the playoffs all you want, but ya gotta get there first. Dak is quite capable of doing that, but not under these conditions, most notably the complete absence of a run game.

You can clearly see when Dak hurts his hamstring. McCarthy is fighting for his NFL career, he’s not agreeing to a tank like that. If Jerry decides he wants to tank, he will fire MM and demand Lance take over.

And on TV Rush looked much more in control of things than Dak did. Dak took 3 sacks against the worst pass rush in the NFL because he stares at the rush and doesn’t keep his eyes downfield. Then he has to scramble and find the check down usually with an errant pass. The only TD drive with Dak in there was all running, while Rush’s 82 yard drive was all him slinging it around. Something happened to Dak from last year to this year. His arm looks shot and just overall physically it’s like he’s aged 10 years. He looks like Brady in Tom’s last year but without the ability to read the coverage.

This is speculation, but I think it might be addiction to painkillers or something. That will wreck your body in a short time. It would also explain his inexplicable lost look in games.

Rush competed ~50% of his passes after the Falcons were no longer concerned with losing the game. Under less pressure and with receivers that were getting more separation, he was terrible. Not sure what you were watching.
It would have been a higher % if a couple of balls weren’t dropped….like that dime to CeeDee. Atlanta was not in prevent, more like a shell coverage but still bringing the pass rush. I am not saying Rush was better, the man or what not but he did move the ball by spreading it around. He reads defenses better and more decisive.

Dependance on opioids - not saying that’s even a factor - most definitely does not ‘wreck your body in a short time’ unless your running heroin that’s cut with adulterants through your veins. You have no concept of what opioid dependence - not addiction - does to a human body. Setting aside dependance or addiction related issues, even long term use of opioids is relatively safe, with loss of bone density after many, many years of use being the primary concern along with reduced testosterone levels. Opioid levels an athlete would be exposed to have almost zero effect on one’s body.

No, he doesn’t. He’s not more proficient than Dak in any aspect of the game.

Rush didn't look like a lost dog imo. What gave you the impression?

They just needed any excuse to get him off the field. Dak didn't limb off the field, he had a bloody and swollen hand. They showed the medical staff working on Dak's hand on TV while Dak kept his helmet on. That indicated to everyone watching the national broadcast that Dak intended to return to the field at that point. Sometime shortly after that, Cooper Rush was announced as the QB going on the field. No one was shown on TV working on Dak's hamstring. He was just out of the game and we were then told it was because of his hamstring. It looked very suspicious to me as well.

Just stop. Cooper Rush is NOT better than Dak. If he were, he would be starting for at least one of the remaining 31 teams. Now, it's possible he could play a game or two and be as good as or even better than Dak, but there's a reason he's been a career backup. It's not unusual for a backup to replace a starter and overachieve short-term. I know many have issues with Dak's performance, contract, and 100 other things but don't yourself into Cooper Rush being something he's not.

Sidenote.........I don't expect to see Lance unless Cooper plays poorly and/or we lose the next couple of games. Starting Lance would send a message that 2025 is officially in play........not sure they are ready to admit we have no chance at the postseason.

I agree. Hell, when was the last time you heard a player getting a "second opinion" for a hamstring injury? LOL.....never heard that one in 35+ years of watching football on any level.

LOL....you want to guess which one the 2nd opinion will tell him?

The worst hamstring injury is an avulsion injury, which occurs when the tendon that connects the hamstring muscle to the bone tears and pulls away part of the bone. In this case, a small piece of bone may be pulled away from the main bone, which is known as an avulsion fracture.
Hamstring injuries are graded by severity:
Grade 1: A minor strain
Grade 2: A partial tear
Grade 3: A complete tear
Hamstring injuries are often caused by muscle overload, which can happen when the muscle is stretched beyond its capacity or challenged with a sudden load. They are most common among people with tight muscles, imbalanced muscle strength, or weak muscles.
Mild to moderate tears can heal within three to eight weeks, while grade 3 tears can take up to three months to heal. It's important to follow your doctor's guidance and avoid returning to sports before the injury is fully healed

Curious why they don't tell us what grade he has? They gotta know. MRIs don't lie.

I think most people are probably thinking it could be a better offense with Rush as the QB over Prescott as opposed to Rush actually being the better QB.

Why/how? We have previously seen how Prescott has at times force fed the ball to Lamb for whatever reason. The offense also seemed to insist upon Prescott throwing the ball more to showcase him as the starting QB or he audibled out of running plays to throw the ball himself. With Rush playing under centre, the offensive coaches will likely take the view well as Rush is a backup QB we need to take the pressure off him and run the ball more which results in a more balanced offense. Arguably, Rush does have a better touch and timing to some of his throws with the receivers so all things being equal, the offense might move the ball more smoothly under Rush not because he's the better QB but because he's a better fit in what should be a more balanced offense. There's also the argument that some players could be frustrated with Prescott's performances in relation to how much he is earning and who knows, they might play/protect harder for Rush to prove a point that if Prescott is the most expensive player in NFL history in terms of annual salary, then shoot I want to get myself some as well.

Should the Cowboys lose the next two games then I would like to see Lance start as well to ascertain what he has to offer, if anything, as a starting QB in the NFL.

Years ago, this forum was a pretty nice place to visit, chill out, chat and talk some football.

These days, it is just different. Constant bickering, insults, childish respsonses, and you have to be labeled a Dak hater or Dak lover....

Today in this thread we have unfounded drug addiction accusations, fake injuries, etc.

Yep. Bickering between posters is out of hand.
