Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

LOL He had Zeke in 2016 are you kidding me? lol - And Dez.

Either you dont realize just how good rookie Zeke was, or will continue to degrade past greatness to prop up your current QB.
You are wasting time arguing with idiots
Anyone stupid enough to legitimately think a QB who cant lead his team to back to back playoff wins in 10 years is better than the QB who led his team to 3 SBs is a buffoon who does not deserve my time

Joe Montana has loaded teams also but I consider him one of the top QBs of all time, same with Roger.
I wonder if 49er fans are going around claiming that Brock Purdy is a better qb than Joe Montana? This whole thread is ridiculous. Troy was a Bus driver. Emmitt was only good because of his OL. Etc...Those SB teams were loaded but they didn't start out that way. They grew up together. And those teams didn't start winning SBs until Troy started to stay healthy. He was an integral part of that team. To think any mediocre qb could replace him and those teams would be the same is stupid.

:) You know back in the day when people used to visit other boards more frequently, they would be laughing at dumb Cowboys fans for thinking that Dak can be compared to a legend, on whatever other board.

If we're being real, yes. Aikman would probably not even be a backup today. If we're talking about relative to the generation, thats different.

Ok so we're just not being real. got it
Didn’t you post that Troy couldn’t start for half the teams today or only be a backup? Maybe you mean the 59 y/o guy today? Then maybe you’re right. Who’s the one not being real? I was really hoping you were being sarcastic, but I suppose not.

Some of the Speakeasy crew said Dak was better than Aikman and Romo. Romo can be contested but to say Dak is better than a HOF, and one of the most accurate playoff QB in NFL history, is absurd.

Aikman was a far better college QB and pro QB than Dak. No disrespect to Dak, but "I know Troy and you sir (Dak) are no Troy Aikman.
if you are in your 30sand looking at stats to compare QBs, you really are foolish. The NFL game is so different, both in salaray cap, free agency and rules.

I cant even imagine what Roger Staubach would do in today's NFL. IMagine Josh Allen.... that is what Roger would be. Amazing leader, great passer, runner, damn tough. He led the NFL in passing the year he retired, because he played on concrete fields that allowed defenders to slam him well after the ball was released.... and his WRs were getting mugged the entire play.

So some youngsters should chill when trying to compare players from different generations.

Tony was a gunslinger. How would that work out for the Cowboys against those great 49er teams in 92/93? It wouldn't. I'm more confident Dak would win with them than Romo.

Aikman had a loaded team. Correct. But it was in an era where defenses could obliterate the QB without consequences. He still had to actually make great throws.
Also, all the top teams were "loaded" at the time. There was parity at the top with the teams that were willing to pay.

Most definitely agree with your last paragraph. I’m not going to downgrade his efforts because he had a great team around him, and it shouldn’t be used to prop him up either. He was just great, end of story. And that does not in any way make him better than Dan Marino. When you don’t have very good teams, and you’re playing better talent in the playoffs, no QB can elevate them to a win. Sure if it’s close they can but Dan never had enough.
Now this thread I believe was about Dak Prescott being better than Troy aikman and in my opinion that is not even close to being true.

Comparing Dan Marino to Troy aikman is a whole another debate Dan Marino never won a Super bowl but he did run the gauntlet and get to one along with playing in a couple conference championship games.

For some reason Don Shula abandoned his idea that a power running game was a necessary thing maybe the talent of Marino made him change his plan.

But at one time Don Shula won the Super bowl with Jim kick Mercury Morris and Larry csonka

Give Dan Marino that's stable of horses and I think a championship would have been his
.
All that said Dak Prescott is not as good a quarterback as Dan Marino or Troy aikman.

Couldn’t agree more!

You can't even compare QB's playing in the same era, with different supporting casts, coaches and ownership.

That is why it is the ultimate team sport.

Aikman accuracy on slant routes and 20- yard out routes was probably the best in NFL history.

The real question should be what if they had swapped places?

Aikman would have refused to tolerate Dez.

Romo or Dak with Jimmy as HC, Emmitt and the Wall running the ball and those early nineties defenses. I think Romo or Dak might have managed a Super Bowl in that scenario.

Aikman with Garrett or McCarty as HC and some years with a terrible defense and bland running game...Not sure even Aikman could have pulled a Super Bowl win out of that mess.
