Yeah, but I think this season has proved that, as good as Dez is, he is overrated by Cowboys fans.

Or its proof that Cowboys fans underrated having an elite RB that can rush for 130 yards against a very good defense.

The offensive line and Rod Marinelli.

Cowboy fans keep burying the lead.

Yet mysteriously he's just as beat up and fragile as all of them at that stage in their careers. Wonder why that is. Hmm..

Romo has always been a playmaker who hangs onto the ball trying to extend plays which has subjected him to a lot of hits and sacks. It's resulted in a lot of injuries the past few years that have kept him on the sidelines. Yesterday was the 17th regular season game he's missed the past 2 seasons.

Even in a league where QBs took a much heavier pounding, those "beat up and fragile" QBs performed.

Marino lead the league in passing attempts and completions at the same age Romo is (36), then played two more years.

Steve Young lead the league in completion percentage at 36 on a 12-3 team, then took his team to 11-4 the next year.

Bradshaw and Montana played before the invention of the Fax machine, if you want to pull out examples from 40 years ago I can pull out some of my own.

Those QBs weren't suffering broken bones. There's some injuries a QB can play with, Romo played with a fractured rib and a punctured lung. He played with a transverse process fracture but the injuries have caught up with him and he's been suffering injuries that no QB can play with. The repeated injuries and missed games along with his age are tarnishing his skills.

The injuries Marino and Young dealt with were worse. Marino had knee injuries and Young had serious concussions. The injury Romo is dealing with now was a fluke with no long term consequences. Its an injury most teams would have played their QB with in the 80's.

It was a different game then, there are a dozen rules in place now to protect QBs right up to the "QB wears a plaid skirt" rule.

The rules can only protect a QB so much but any QB that runs or tries to extend plays by hanging onto the ball is going to be subjected to more injuries than a QB that operates mostly from the pocket. Romo had his back broken in preseason by trying to run. He hung onto the ball when he suffered both collarbone injuries. With his age and repeated injuries, the type of game he plays it's going to be very difficult for him to healthy if he sees the field again. He's going to have to learn to get rid of the ball quicker. He's not as slippery as he used to be and can't be trying to Houdini spin his way around defenders anymore or he'll end up injured again.

Dak is playing very well but as soon as Romo is cleared for action #9 will play. The staff may choose to work Romo in as a backup initially just to get him up to game-shape and knock off any rust. But, barring further injury, Romo will almost certainly re-emerge as the starter. There are just too many advantages to having Romo in the passing game for Jerry, Jason, et al to pass up. You can see this coming from miles away.

Dak has worked very hard and deserves the appreciation and praise he's received. He gives us much to look forward to in the future.

Touche, and nice points. Well hey, Elway got his Lombardi at the end of his career. Maybe Romo will surprise doubters like myself.

He just keeps winning games.

I find that cheap and meaningless..

He would be so much better if he were setting passing records and getting all kinds of numbers.

Stats are what matter.

Happy that the Cowboys found something in Prescott but let's not discount what Romo has done for this team.

Have you noticed that Dak is WINNING GAMES NOW... and NOT MAKING CRITICAL ERRORS? From my vantage point the future is NOW... It seems as if there is a fundamental issue going on with WINNING.. In all honesty, I think many here at CZ would literally be happier losing a game where Romo throws for 382 yards .. 3 td's .. 1int..

Marino suffered one serious injury in 93, an achilles injury that cost him 11 games. After that injury he missed 10 games his final 6 seasons. Steve Young missed 24 games his final 5 seasons due mostly to concussions. Neither Marino or Young missed as many games over a 2 year period as Romo has (17) and counting and Romo is 36 years old. There's no fluke to Romo's latest injury, it's the 3rd straight season he's suffered some type of bone fracture/break. Bone breaks have plagued him starting with a broken pinky finger in 2008. Name some QBs during any era who've played with the type of broken bone in their back that Romo has?

This was a compression fracture which is a pretty big deal according to one expert so don't give me this BS that most teams would have played their QB in the 80s with this type of injury unless you can provide some facts to prove it. As for long-term consequences with his latest injury there could be all kinds of consequences because this is the 3rd different back injury he's suffered since 2013. He also had a cyst removed from his back. What expertise in the medical field do you have to claim there won't be any long-term consequences with this being his 3rd different back injury?

Romo wont surprise doubters because if Romo plays again it wont be for very long.

I expect his return to be short lived but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves he's not cut out for the job anymore. A couple of those hits Dak took yesterday would've put Romo on the turf, I'm convinced. This situation intrigues me.

I think we have too much running talent and passing talent for anyone to say our opponent is just bad.

You have to show up to beat Beasley, Witten, Dak, and Elliott and our OFFENSIVE LINE.

FTFY. ;)
