Dak, Kellen, and selfish play

IMO... I think Dak and his buddy Kellen Moore prioritized getting gaudy passing stats this year in order to strengthen Dak’s bargaining position.

Of course— they assumed the wins would flow if he threw the ball well.

So— they have tried to make this “Dak’s” team and have not relied as much on Zeke. We have won when we have run the ball well. That is who we are.

Instead of doing what is best for the team in 2019 and building this identity around Zeke— I believe Dak and Kellen wanted to showboat and showcase their “awesome” passing attack to leverage better contracts for themselves.

Speculation of course— and yet, human nature being inherent selfish, and the results and stats being what they are— I think this is the kind of “hero” ball that has sabotaged this season

Conspiracy theory aside. Zeke is not the same player he was in 16'. He has bulked up too much and has lost quickness and agility. He may never have the same success he has had in the past but 1200 yrds this season is not bad.

Funny how when we passed early in games, on early downs, the offense could not be stopped. When Jerry started insisting we use the highest paid RB more, we started falling behind early and lost games by feeding Zeke. We ran well in the games where the passing game got us the lead early. We run well when we get chunk plays passing. Those games where we ran into a brick wall, ran on 1st down constantly, are the very reason our season is over. 8-8 is because of awful special teams, a lack of big plays by the defense, and bad coaching. Anyone blaming Dak is frankly nuts.

Yep. And we won. Which is my point... why did this team abandon it's run first, Zeke-focused offense this year? My assertion is that Dak wanted to prove he was the man in order to land the contract of a lifetime, and Kellen wants to be the next wunderkind in a pass-happy NFL.

When we run and lean on Zeke-- shocking-- we win! When we get cute and try and throw it all over the yard-- we lose-- and look particularly poor on the road. In 2016-- we were road warriors and dominated teams on the ground with Zeke and an efficient, complimentary passing game that did not turn the ball over. Where did that offense and QB go?

Aikman even said during the broadcast today that Dak admitted to being distracted and focused on the contract this year. You don't have to believe that Dak and Kellen schemed up a more pass-focused offense-- I don't care. But instead of leaning on Zeke more (like the Rams and Skins game today)-- I think they chose to try and showcase Dak and that ultimately has played a part in the offense having an identity crisis.

This is why we hire Urban Meyer... he knows EXACTLY what we have in Zeke...
