Do you really not think Dak and his weapons will be making plays and converting 3rds? He won't be scoring 30-45 points like has the last few seasons, but 20-30's is very possible. He has defense and special teams, and doesn't need to take risks
Not expecting them to put up 40+ points per game, but even bad offenses were scoring 20 a game last season. The NFL today is built for offense and it's grown past that old school super conservative approach.

I do agree with you that the Cowboys need to compensate for the holes on offense in other ways, but changing Daks style just doesn't seem like the right move to me. Let the guy play to his strengths and don't make him be Brady. That's something most QBs fail at. If anything for Dak I would take the ball out of his hands a bit and make him not have to play Superman every game.

I would rather have an offense focused on taking what a defense gives them, run the football often, and let Dak focus on just finding the open man with a few deep shots to take per game. Avoiding sacks, avoiding a large number of throw away plays, etc is going to be key because I don't see the big play potential we had even a year ago. Focus on ball control, be OK with short gains, and just move the chains.

I look at this offense to get first downs, control the clock to keep the defense fresh, and win the field position battle. If they do that we should be in OK shape. If they can improve over the season and give us more then maybe we can win a playoff game or two.

Jerry probably had a lot to do with that. He overpaid Zeke by a ton and didn't want him sitting on his butt.

I don't deny he is overpaid, but then again I think all players are over paid.
Zeke, even with a good or great year will need to restructure for 2023. I do understand all of that.

I don't care if Jerry or Rowdy dictated he play or not. I believe that was up to Zeke, the coaches and trainers and medical staff more so than Jerry.

Never once in Payton Mannings career has he ever thrown for 4,900 yards. Dak Prescott has. The only person Dak need to be is Dak and this team will be fine. He done things neither Manning or Brady have done in this league and it's about damn time he gets the respect he deserves.
I’ll take a double dose of whatever you are taking.

My point was that they went down when nothing was there and took sacks, and they threw the ball away. They also utilized throwing to rb's more than most qbs do. Those are all things Dak can and should do this year. He has a strong defense and special teams to allow him to keep himself and the ball safe. He doesn't have to play like romo, when romo had to make plays to win
He must still play within the system and Brady and Manning had better coaching with more attention paid to what talent they were surrounded with instead of being dependent on them to make all the plays.

The Joneses think because Prescott is the most discussed QB in the league that he is better than he actually is and they did the same thing with Romo. The son actually admitted they hadn't given Romo adequate support.

This is what happens when starstruck front office people run the team. And I would bet that both of them would be crappy fantasy players.

That is my whole point. They have given him the support. He has what might be a great defense and really good special teams play. He doesn't need to try to make plays like romo or himself has done. He need to do those ball protection and injury protection things brady and manning did, and trust the defense and special teams

Moore can call plays and dak can make adjustments to have to rb run out for a pass

no he doesn't.
protect the ball.
trust your reads.
get rid of it.
be strong with fundamentals.
he's one of the best around.
QB1 is the least of my concerns.
he doesn't HAVE TO be a hof'er....just do what you train to do.
nothing more.

Yeah and to be honest I think you, I, and a lot of others in this thread have the same end idea, just slightly different ideas on how to get there.

lots of people saying the same thing with different words haha.

More like Marino. Dak had better get rid of the ball within 3 seconds.

It's going to be on Moore as much as it is on Dak. Without adequate protection, they will have to utilize more of a short passing game, get the ball out quick to negate that pass rush. Use QB roll outs, bootlegs and let Dak use his legs to buy more time for deep shots. A lot more PA passes, misdirections, gotta use all those tricks to try and slow the pass rush. It won't be sexy or exciting and I expect the usual crowd to blame the lack of deep passes on Dak, but this isn't about how or what style Dak plays, but about adjusting our offensive scheme as a whole.

If we don't change our offensive philosophy of looking for the intermediate and deep shots, with the short passes used primarily as dump offs or safety valves, then it will be an ugly season. KM has to adjust and use what we do have, quick passes, get the ball to CeeDee, Pollard, Zeke, Turpin, etc. and let them manufacture yards. Some of that philosophy of Brady's latter years with the Patriots or Brees's latter years with the Saints when he didn't have the arm to push deep.
