Goff 4 years
Cousins 4 years
Stafford 4 years
Carr 4 years

and you see similar type contract lengths for other positions.

Jefferson 4 years
CD 4 years
Brown 4 years
Aiyuk 4 years
Yes I know. But since we were talking about Dak, I tried to keep it to first contracts after rookie seasons with QBs. I know a 4 year contract is popular with position players. We're talking QBs. All of your examples are not relevant.

Ok. Understood.

It's a mix of 4 or 5.

With Allen 6 whichni assume gets redone.

And mahomes unprecedented 10 year contract

Yeah, I don't see a big difference in 4 or 5. The biggest problem is Jerry let his rookie deal elapse, giving them one less year to spread out the contract. For example, Allen got an extension after his 3rd year. That's a total of 8 years to spread out his cap hits.

yes, jerry tends to do that. the other thing you notice with him, is he almost never releases a player until the end of their contract, despite performance. he hates to pay for a position twice. he hates dead cap and that's why we have one of the lowest dead cap money in NFL. I am affraid he is going to hold on to steele until the end of his contract. most probably he will try to renegotiate and reduce his salary as Steele is just not that good. same is true for our safties. DTs, DEs, etc. we just keep a player to the end of contract regardless of performance.
