Dak Not Expected To Play In The 1st Two Preseason Games

The modern NFL is flat out soft. Dak needs game reps with this new WR corps and OL. Limiting his snaps to “protect” him is a joke.

Do you run the risk of an injury? Sure. But I fully expect him to struggle with timing and being overall rusty and sloppy once the games start.

I'd rather him get work in the 2nd preseason game and sit in the first and final preseason games.
I'm a little perplexed.

A part of me is in agreement in order to protect Dak and keep him healthy for the start of the regular season. The other part of me would like to see Dak get at least 1.5 preseason games of play time in order to properly get him ready for the regular season. I would hate to see Dak play cold and with not enough starting warmups to start the regular season, especially against our first 2 opponents (Tampa Bay & Cincinnati).

Heard that all of last year too, and Dak was at his best starting the year. Preseason is for the fans way more than the players. So many more snaps are taken in practice I'm not sure the one or two series that Dak would have played those games really matter. Chemistry with the offense is being created now....preseason is just garbage vanilla football.

Exactly, especially when you consider the longer season, and how much easier it is to go post season.
No need to overexpose your franchise players needlessly.

That's pretty much every NFL team that doesn't have a QB competition (Carolina, Seattle) these days, except the Patriots.

This is what I'm thinking also......expect most starting QBs to sit out the first two. Keep in mind they are scrimmaging with a couple of teams I think. Hell, that may be more valuable than preseason game(s).

Good decision already! Like in the game of chess. You have to protect your King.
@Them

Heck, he should only go in at the start of the 4th Quarters in all our games including the regular season as that's pretty much when the defense is in prevent and he produces plenty!!!
SAVE THE KING!!!!!

I don’t expect many of our starters to play in the first two preseason games. The ones battling for a starting job will play.

The QBs' salaries are so insane now, it's surprising that they play them in any preseason games.

Super Bowl winning Rams went 0-3 in the preseason last year and Stafford did not take a snap, for example.

I think teams are still figuring out the best approach for their key players in the new 3 game preseason format. Seemed like a lot of players didn't play at all last preseason. When there were 4 games, it seemed like all the starters played the 1st quarter and even some in the 2nd. It was known as the dress rehearsal.

A lot of people said the same thing you are right now last season before the Tampa game. Probably played his best game as a pro.

Hope you’re right. Lots of new personnel along the OL and at WR to adjust to. Dak did not have as much of that to deal with last year.

Hope so. But last year his recovery from injury was a good reason to protect him. This year? I would get him some work.
