So why didn’t he take the job in 2017?
They told him it wasn't an open competition. He was public in saying he supports Dak but wanted a shot to fairly compete for the job.
The front office saw the future in Dak and said "no". He could've stayed on as a backup.

He could have went to any team he wanted to if he was healthy. He chose to retire. Romo was done.

Romo did not desire playing for any team other than Dallas. He was likely investigating his post-career broadcasting prospects with his agent and television network contacts as early as November 2016.

It’s not nearly identical production….your point is moot. You’re arguing your rather have Russ at 30 million dollar savings? Russ is not gonna make 30 million less than Dak lol.
If you think Dak and Russ play is similar you need to stop box score watching. Why do you think the Broncos are trying to move on?
Production in key metrics (comp %, ypa, TD %) is very similar. The only stat where Dak has a huge lead is yardage but that goes back to Wilson having significantly less passing attempts. And Dak having significantly better weapons. Unless you think Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton are on par with Lamb and Cooks. Feel free to make that argument lol

You and I both know why Denver is looking to move on. They overpaid for Wilson at about $45 million per and they are squabbling about an injury clause which he is refusing to buckle on

We're about to overpay for Dak at $60 million per

When Denver cuts him he'll get about $40 million cash as a parting gift. We could get him at $25-30 million. Like I said, roughly half of what Dak is going to be demanding

I think that could allow us to keep or get a couple more key pieces that could put us over the edge

So now Russ doesn’t have weapons? Jeudy and Sutton are better than Cooks for sure. Neither is better than Lamb. I want no parts of Russ. How many ex teammates have to come out and tell you about Russ? Also Russ did what with Lockett and Metcalf? What has Russ done since Legion of Boom retired?

So why didn’t he go play for another team?
He didn't want to.
I think his preferences were
1) Compete for starting spot in Dallas. Had always been a Cowboy and wanted to finish here or lese move on
2) Take a lucrative broadcaster gig and move on to next phase of life---think his wife wanted this for his family/health
3) Maybe go to a contender

I don't think restarting and going to a crap team with no line....so back to the Dallas 2010-2013 era was even a remote consideration. His agent made that be known around the league too. . Dude left body parts spread all of the league already....He didn't wish to be in a wheelchair the rest of life. lol

Dak. Dak is a better football player and leader than Romo ever was.

Where Romo failed is he wasn't a good leader. He cared more about golf than he did the NFL. Dak's #1 priority is football. It's why Dak was able to lead this team in 2016....soon as he stepped on that field these guys gravitated to him and it's why they never went back to Romo and why he essentially retired Romo.

If Romo couldn't win in 2014 he was never gonna win with this organization.
2007 was his best chance. Defense wasn't good enough in 2014.

Yeah I’m just not buying it. His career was over. His body wasn’t gonna hold up. He would’ve played anywhere that would’ve had him.

In 10 combined NFL seasons Sutton and Judy have 1 total 1,000 yard receiving season

Cooks has done it 6 out of 10

I agree CeeDee is way better than all of them

Metcalfs best season in his career was with Wilson.

What's the beef with his ex teammates? Not sure what your angling at on that one?

It makes me so happy to see how much Dak remaining the Cowboys franchise QB absolutely kills you.

All Dak has to do is win one playoff game to have more playoff wins and appearances than Romo, and if he makes it the Championship game, which looks like a real possibility if we keep the 2nd seed, then I don't see how anyone can say Romo was better. Y'all seriously overrate Romo. As of right now, I think they're pretty much the same QB but Dak has time to pass him
