Dak Prescott and the offense has been the problem

"Are you Clarence?" That is a sad, sad, sad response by the PFWA's 2026 Good Guy Award winner to a very relevant question.

You make the claim of being the 'Greatest Offense There Is'. Four combined touchdowns versus the Buccaneers and Packers. GOTI netted no less than three touchdowns against the Giants, Washington, Ravens, and Texans each. THAT'S a notable two-week dropoff in offensive production. The question was completely legit.

Don't be flippant. The national media recognized you with an actual award as 'an NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs'. You and too many people in this organization talk too much. Don't stop now. Live up to the media's expectation and provide a straight answer right then right there without the sarcasm.
:hammer:

Dak isn’t good enough to have a short memory like Parcells had said is a must have for QBs. That’s why he keeps throwing picks against the same teams.

Terrence Steele has to go. He’s getting beat badly on right side consistently. I’m not sure Guyton on left side is holding up either.

We’ve invested much in OL for it not to be holding up better.

While play calling and execution has to better to beat the blitz too often our QB has no chance. He won’t last the season if he continues getting mauled like last night.

I am not going to claim Dak played well or wasn't the problem last night, but to say the offense has been the problem all along is nonsense. They've looked bad the last two weeks, and honestly they weren't that bad against Tampa, they just didn't get the ball that often. Last night was a different story. Dak was completely flustered, lost his throwing mechanics, made awful decisions and bad throws. That was one of the worst games I have seen him play in a long time. I am starting to wonder if there is something to that alternate year theory where Dak plays well one year and bad the next.

I am not sure what to make of that game last night. To me it is still all about coaching. The Packers had a game plan they executed to perfection against Dallas. I don't know what Schottenheimer's plan was but the execution was horrible again. If you watched the Packers last week you know Love has been playing on fire lately. His accuracy has been off the charts. But for Dallas, that was a big problem. They should have been playing maximum pass coverage all night because the Packers can't run the football. Instead, it looked like the Cowboys were determined to stop the run, which they did, but receivers were wide open all night again. Giving up 9 of 10 thirds downs, as they did at one point last night is just unimaginably horrible. This has been a problem all year. The Cowboys average giving up 3rd down conversions more than 50% of the time this year. The league average is something like 28%. I don't care how bad the players are, and I don't think they are that bad, giving up 50% conversions on 3rd down takes an effort. There are teams missing parts in their secondaries are aren't even close to being that bad. It has to be coaching and I don't think this gets fixed this year no matter who they bring in.

I'll make one other point. Has anyone else noticed how teams just dump the ball off to a RB or TE in the flat and no one is ever there to cover him? Have you noticed when Dallas does the same thing, there are two or three defenders coming up to make a quick tackle for a small gain or a loss? Several of those 3rd down conversions by GB were little passes to the flat that when for 10 - 15 yards. It has been a problem all year (remember the Giants ran that play 3 or 4 times in a row eventually scoring a TD in the first game). How is it that the coaching staff has not shut that down by the 6th game of the season?

Am I understanding correctly that the offense should be expected to score more than 13?

Dak was bad, but the playcalling did him no favors. And to beat the blitz, you gotta make plays. I'm seeing too many vertical routes again. Why do we always go back to that?
This is the question. Regardless of coaching staffs we have a history of running a limited # of routes over & over. Defenses are just sitting on them.

Why does a great QB not have all the routes & route combinations available? Could it be that all coaching staffs know his limitations and pare down the offense? But the rest of the league knows that as well.

Also, I thought he was a great blitz beater. ?
