Dude. It's eight games. Let's hope Prescott has a Hall of Fame quality career but also keep reality in context too. That's a question that's been applicable for too many players and too many teams throughout football and other team sports for decades. Every team wishes they guess right about every player 100% of the time. Doesn't happen. Life.

Plasticman spoke the literal truth...and he also put it in proper context.

Pretty damn good way to start a career, eh?

It's also an 8 game streak that has never been done before. Of course we need to see where he eventually ends up but why not celebrate the success as we receive it. Next week it will be just NINE games. And I will still have this ginormous cheese eating grin on my face.

Dak is not sole reason for Cowboys success, but he is A reason, a very important one. It may just be a confluence of events, but I for one will be enjoying every second of the ride. I am curious as to when all the haters will change their tune (not saying you're a hater), maybe 10 consecutive wins?

Wait til Dak actually knows what he is doing.

This can't be stressed enough. You're watching a rookie QB in his first year in the league who is STILL LEARNING how to run a NFL pro offense after spending his entire college career running the spread.

THIS is why Dak was still there in the 4th round. Every single NFL scout looked at him and said 'developmental project, will take a few seasons to get coached up in a NFL-style drop back passing, play action offense'.

HE'S STILL LEARNING. How to drop back pass. How to read the NFL defenses. How to do play action fakes. It's his 1st year doing this.

RG3 had a passer rating of 102.4 at the end of his rookie season, so let's curb the enthusiasm

And all he was doing is read option, rollouts. and QB keepers. Dak is light years ahead of anything RG3 did.

What Dak has is an extremely low usage rate. He is used less than just about every QB in the league. His passing attempts now that everyone has had a bye are bottom 5 (out of 32) in the league despite playing every game.

As a general rule, the more youre used the less efficient you become. There are players that transcend that but he is not one of them. NYG and PHI showed that. The thing is you need an excellent defense to expose his weaknesses in reading the field and adhering to his technique because of how well our OL and receivers have been playing. If you don't have plus DBs and rushers our guys are going to get open and stone your rush. The best anyone has done is make our run game inconsistent in a game too.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it is only 8 games, clearly the sample size is far too small to make comparisons to the great Hall of Famers. It is certainly not my point to say he is the best quarterback in history. We will have to wait about another ten years to make such an absurd claim.

However, it's not a bad start is it? How many quarterbacks in history started out the blocks with this type of productivity? Only one quarterback in NFL history has a higher passer rating through their first 8 games, Kurt Warner. Of course, Kurt Warner played in both the Arena Football League and the World Football League before joining the NFL.

Dak Prescott has a 104.2 rating, #1 for all passers that threw at least 200 passes. The next quarterback to be rated so highly with less than a thousand attempts is Marcus Mariota with a rating of 92.6. There are a total of 8 quarterbacks with less than a thousand passes and with a rating of 85 or better and the majority of them are in the 87 rating range. Wenzt now has a rating of 87.7.

Dak Prescott is the most accurate passer.....so far.....in history. Again, consider the small number of attempts. However, also consider that he is a rookie, these are his FIRST NFL passes. He has completed 66.53% of his passes compared to 2nd place Drew Brees at 66.50%.

Dak Prescott has the highest average yards per attempt in history, 200 minimum passes. his average is 8.15 yards, Russell Wilson is 2nd place with 7.99 yards.

For a third time, I am not using this data to claim he is the best quarterback in history, though it is certainly correct to say he has the best career start in history through 8 games. What I am saying is this:

It is only the beginning.

What reason do we have to believe that he will not get better as he becomes more familiar with his team, the playbook, the league? What will we have when we add these results to experience?

This is what we should all be excited about. No mater what happens this season, no matter how far they can get......it is only the beginning.
I love your thread and if there was a love button or the ability to like x infinity it would be done.

Do we have a comparison to Romo's first 8 after replacing Bledslug?

That would be pretty interesting.

Hes not an NFL QB, i heard it on here multiple times.

"Definitely not a starter, definitely not a franchise quarterback. All he does is run. Played in that grade school mississippi state offense" - draft thread posters.

"Doesnt know what he is doing" - Posters in this thread.

That bullcrap ....... that pass to Butler earlier in the year was being talked about even on ESPN.
The touchdown in the corner against the Pack? It was a good throw in one on one coverage against a waiver wire cornerback. Very little risk and most QBs can make that throw... it was a good throw to the right spot.

Hyperbole obviously when I say zero but we've had around 250 pass attempts and I don't think 10 completions could be found that were thrown into tight windows or that had to be thrown with any worry about a defender. Drop back with all day to throw, wait for Beasley's man to fall down, throw ball, repeat.
