First, let me make it clear that in my opinion this IS Romo's team. I'm as enthusiastic about Dak as anyone, but losing Romo is just sickening to me.

Now, with that being said, I truly believe that Dak can at the very least keep our season alive. This is a rookie with poise and composure, who will be lining up with-

1) Arguably the best O line in the league.
2) HOF TE
3) Elite WR
4) VERY solid slot receiver.
5) Blue chip rookie RB.
6) VERY solid veteran RB to backup the guy mentioned above.
7) An offense that has proven they can be elite in the running game.

If any offense can provide an environment for a rookie QB to succeed in, I think it's this one. And I think Dak is the type of rookie who has the appropriate skill set and intangibles to succeed in said offense.

It's a weird situation to be in as a fan. Losing Romo makes me nauseous. But, I am more than a little curious to see how Dak looks behind our O line and with all of our other toys at his disposal.

Thoughts?

The only wildcard is Garrett, will he help or hinder Dak. Garrett has been unable to win without Romo and that's not just last season but throughout his entire HC career. Romo makes this O work, he's the one who truly rallies the team, not Garrett.

If the defense wasn't so suspect, I would not be as worried. The thing is the offense is going to have to put up a lot of points, and that is a lot of pressure on a rookie QB.

Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I just don't think our D will be near as bad as many on here think.

I'm very interested to see how Dak looks against a regular season, 1st string NFL defense. And I'll be equally as curious to see what approach those defenses take to our offense. I think if teams sell out to stop the run, Dak can beat them, especially with Wit, Dez, and Beas at his disposal.

The defense was middle of the pack last year and has averaged allowing about 10 points a half in the first half this preseason, aka 20 PPG. If Dak is even decent I think he can match that most games. If Romos back week 5 and we are 2 and 2 I will be satisfied

I pray to God that they don't play "not to lose" with Dak at the helm. I'm not saying let him throw it 40 times...but give the kid a chance to make plays. He's proven he has the ability. He's a baller.

I think what I was trying to get at is with Romo, you can gameplan an offense set on attack. Trust him in making the reads and audibles to exploit a defense. Dak is an unknown. Do you take the same approach, or do you er on caution and simplify things for him.

This is what I'm most interested in. Will they give him complete control of the offense like Romo had, or will they try to simplify things and minimize mistakes.

I hear ya. I think they need to find a happy middle ground, if that's possible. If teams are selling out to stop the run, they need to trust Dak and give him the opportunity to make defenses pay. But at the same time, things do need to be simplified to a degree, no doubt.

I think week 1 when the Giants are keying in on the run the Cowboys should set up all sorts of quick pass plays to make them respect him. He's shown that he can read defenses, so set up some nice long fades to Dez or quick crossing patterns to Beasley when they are showing blitz and that will change things real fast

its a problem. right off the bat in week 1 he will have to face a defensive coordinator that blitzes from everywhere.

Dak will have to make adjustments and hopefully frederick will help also.

I hope he can handle it, personally because of the defense i think if dak started all year we would win between 2 to 4 games.

Someone is ging to find a way to make dak uncomfortable and then everyone will attack it.

If Tony can't play against the Giants, I just hope Dak has the nerves of steel necessary to withstand the insane demands and scrutiny visited on the Dallas Cowboys' starting QB.

Yep...not good. The fact so many delusional fans of this team think this kid is going to thrive is unfortunate. VERY high odds that he'll struggle. Love to be wrong though. Maybe he will be the next Dan Marino and light the league on fire.

Of course he doesn't, its one step at a time with a rook.
