His scrambling reminds me of a combination of Fran Tarkenton, Steve Young and a splash of Lamar Jackson. He’s a lot more elusive and faster than people want to believe.
Don't take this the wrong way but his scrambling reminds me more of Frank Enstein than the others names you listed. Dak's success will no longer rest with his legs, it rests with his mental ability to read the field and physical ability to throw the forward pass

I feel like he only scrambles back and to the right maybe I’m wrong but this kind of stuff defensive coordinator zero in on. It’s very limiting To our offense.

look at the romo highlights. He’s dodging guys and stepping UP into the pocket. And of course the famous spin back to the left romo had

I think a major part of Dak's difficulties is that he's lost whatever abilities he formerly had to scramble. Even "way back when," they were limited. Now, if he manages to succeed in a scramble or an rpo-type play, it's mainly successful if it's to the right side of the offensive lineup. Doing so to the left is far less likely to succeed, due to his discomfort passing while running left. Few right-handed QBs are capable of doing that with much success, anyway. It was a rare skill that Tony Romo often used quite effectively, though. I think Dak is too stiff in trying to do that.

So I was thinking something the offense is missing is the plays in which the qb kind of just slides around a little keeps his head up and finds someone for a nice lil gainer.
Am I wrong is this absent from his game

Dak doesnt run very much anymore since he snapped his ankle.

Dak being able to make plays with his legs used to be a big part of his game.

It was one of the things that I really liked about him if the offense struggled he would just put the whole thing on his back run for the first down get tackled get back up and lead the team.

At the time it was absolutely refreshing and confidence inspiring.

Now it seems like he boot legs to the right with somebody in his face and that's about it and I think the whole league at this point knows he's going to bootleg to the right.

I would love to see the old Dak back that had the vision and anticipation to just tuck it away pick up some easy yards and get down safely

I've been pleading for this since the San Francisco game the only way for Dak to be effective in this league is to move around buy a couple more seconds for a lot separation.
I'm beginning to think since the injury hes tentative to use that ankle

Agreed. There’s a lack of cohesive Kinect fluidity there

We don't have either the WR group or O-line that can make a drop back only QB successful.

Dak needs to scramble for this offence to keep plays effective.

I would agree with the Tarkenton and Young comparison... of course they're 82 and 61 respectively, but pretty much the same speed and elusiveness as Dak, but with better arms.

I agree his lack of mobility whether it's because of his previous injury or he believes that he should just be a pocket type passer has really made things more difficult for him.

It really seemed to me like he was best when he was on the move.
Seemed like he could read the defense and see things better react faster standing in the pocket seems like he's just stuck in cement sometimes and by the time he decides to do something it's way too late.

Reminds me of that old Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid movie when the Sundance kid is shooting and hitting nothing and then he says can I move and he hits everything kind of the same way with Dak

He has been trying to be a pocket QB instead of what he is. He needs to have some designed plays where he rolls out. Runs with it occasionally when it’s there. He used to give defenses fits with that and RPO plays. Needs to play his game.

I remember when Romo said he studied brady all offseason and wanted to play like him. Was a mistake. He can add some of those things to his game but don’t try to be what your not.

There is nothing in Daks scrambling ability now that reminds me of any of those guys. Dak is in no way elusive. He is big and strong. Thats it. Nothing more, nothing less.

PS. Steve Young was faster then Jerry Rice. Lamar is probably the fastest guy on the Ravens. Dak doesn't even run a 4.7 40 and that was before his injury.

oh yeah, he's a scrambler. He's like a chicken with its head cut off. Running around not knowing where he's at, but hey, he and the chicken can't run without its brain functioning. shrugs.

He's capable of it. In fact, I kept asking last week why they weren't rolling him out at all. It may be just my imagination, but it seems like he throws better when he rolls out to the right, like it keeps him from thinking too much.

Well yea it cuts off half the field it’s all right there in front of you.

to me we’re really missing that big step up into the pocket where the rushers have over extended themselves and you basically have opened up the entire field for your eyes and also the best part about this is the receivers and you can communicate potential adjustments.

Seriously watch that romo clip again he’s pointing all over the field. He didn’t need them to trade for a wr he practiced with crayton Laurent Robinson miles Austin etc and got the most of them
