I figured you last paragraph was a given. They have a thread (not sure if this is it) where they show Fergie running down the seam wide open. They said he was looking at him but didn’t throw it. What I saw was him looking off the LB and safety as he drops back. He glanced to Gallups side and the LB and safety ran over to Gallups side and Fergie was open. But Tyron got beat off the line and Dak never looked to have the time to set his feet and throw. He barely had time to roll out and hit someone for 5 or 7 yards. The last 2 games our starting O-Line has been playing together he has been running for his life. I was glad to see him take off for that TD and other plays. Great for his confidence and team. I just think some of those sacks he could thrown it away. Just has to get it past the line and towards a receiver. The will throw a flag for intentional grounding.
The ones i hate or when he is outside the OT box and doesnt send it to the stands..he does do that twice a game..throw it into section c

Once he gets out of the box I don’t worry to much about him. But I know what you’re saying. I know they do not want him running much but I just want him to get down. He don’t like going down. And he is a big boy. Was glad to see him run that fast. Around 18 mph. He didn’t look that fast but seemed to be running away from some of them.

Quite surprised because on that TD Run, he LOOKED slow.

I even made a comment in the gameday thread that I thought Aikman could have ran it in faster.

I guess the "eye test" is not always correct.
He looked slow outrunning Derwin James to the end zone?

I thought he looked the best he's been since before the injury. He was never a fast guy, just fast enough and strong.

I dont care about the stats , it’s was excellent to see Dak use his legs and open a dimension of the offense that we haven’t seen for years.

What MM should be aware of is this is going greatly benefit the passing games as well. I’m not saying that defenses will have to designate a “spy” for it but at least it will remain a “ threat “ .

Just as long as Dak does it judiciously and slides before the threat of a big hit, I’m 100% thrilled to see him doing it.
Amen.. It's about keeping the second level defenders accounting for him. Opens up the mid-range passing lanes..

Yep. I mean I wasn't paying attention to the defender on the play at the time it was happening, and Dak looked like he wasn't running very fast.

I guess in my head, the trailing defender was a "slow LB". I mean, James is pretty big, so you can't blame me that much ... right?

So ya. I'm stupid at judging speed. Dak just didn't "look fast" on the run, despite every evidence to the contrary.

Ya. That was some "Emmitt Smith Speed" there. Not overly fast, but fast enough not to get caught.

look man he's paid to make plays not throw the ball away i get what you're saying but how about we just focus on the real issues it's the offensive line, wrs not Gettig open and the questionable play calling... so much goes into always calling out dak his name has to be mentioned everywhere... even when he carried this team to a win with NO run game and all the issues i listed above..

he's not holding the ball too long he has maybe 2-2.5 secs to get rid of it and he's been running for his life.. Some of them dudes have been in that backfield before 2 seconds. Its been that bad. Secondly nones open!! fast enough!!!

lots of issues that are not dak holding it for no good reason.. So literally the only sack I saw in the last game that he could have got rid of the football was the one where he got out of a sack and then ran towards the sideline looking for someone open and they got sacked about a yard short of the line he held onto the ball too long there trying to make a big play... i don't blame him after he escaped like Houdini and was looking downfield for something big and then he got sacked anyway.. i mean we're not talking about lamar or mobile quarterbacks like justin fields. i would prefer him to be a pocket passer or getting some passes complete than taking off and running too much.....

you should have stopped at bad OL, added poor run game leading to one dimensional non-complimentary football that allowing the D to key on him and also playing cover age add in WRs not creating separations etc then we can talk Dak..
But when he's scrambling, he often holds onto it and takes a sack, when he has plenty of time to throw it away.

He's plenty fast for a non-running QB. Pull it down 4-6 times per game and take off to keep the D honest.

You should never try to judge how fast a guy is running just by how it looks. There are too many variables to judge. Stride length, acceleration, deceleration, turnover, wasted motion all of that. The best thing to do is look at how much ground is being covered per second and go from there. The more yards you see being covered per second the faster the guy is running. Watch that and then watch the clock in the corner of the screen and you can get a pretty good read on how fast he's moving!
On the TD run Dak crosses the 20 yard line just as the clock hits 6:24 then he crosses the 10 yard line just as it hits 6:23. That 10 yards or 30 feet per second. I don't care what it LOOKED like.. That is movin. For reference 30 mph is 44 feet per second so 30 feet per second is about 20.4 mph. If they estimate Dak topped out at a little over 18 mph or so that's totally in line with what I saw on the field.
