So the current Cowboys QB could be the franchise passing leader, when the league has never been more pass happy in it's history?
Hmm...let's see BDC...

If you look at the picture I included in my opening post, you will notice Troy Aikman still is the Cowboys "passing attempts" leader (4,715 passing attempts) in franchise history. That is 380 attempts from 1989 - 2000 more than Romo (4,335 passing attempts) ever had from 2006 - 2016. Dak has even far less attempts (3,873 passing attempts) than Troy or Romo, and that's because Dak has been the QB from 2016 - 2023. Clearly, the passing game for the Dallas Cowboys was much more prolific during the late 80s - 90s than it has been from mid 2000s - mid 2020s.

They can't touch the quarterback, can't hit the receivers, and can't do any of the things they were allowed to do in the past to slow the receivers down.
Nowadays the quarterback is playing two hand touch, and he doesn't have to fear being hit.
Any twelve year old with a decent arm can do what Dak does.
And he'd probably be tougher against playoff caliber teams.
In other words, the NFL rules (according to the decades long rules book) are finally being enforced?

It's a TEAM GAME. Maybe he finally got a couple good receivers.

I stand by my point. Even guys you claim can't throw...CAN get the stats.
All I’m saying is for a passing league I’d expect these first round picks to come straight in and dominate. Haven’t seen Trevor Lawrence do it….

Yeah, every position has its own stats. What's so hard to understand about that?
Tackling is probably a good individual stat.

Passing requires o-line protection and receivers catching the ball.

I wouldn't have mentioned it except you use "stats" and "team game" as it suits your agenda. As if QB's have nothing to do with a super bowl.

I'm okay with using stats AND wins...with context.

Many QB's don;t get the benefit of special signings (Amari) and guys like Ceedee. TEAM GAME!

You make a decent argument, but...reaching and winning SBs is a team accomplishment. Becoming a franchise passing leader is a totally different subject.
Really?

So, pass protection, quality receivers, solid complimentary threats, coaching/play calling/scheme all have nothing to do with the stats the individual QB racks up?

I thought you "knew football"?

As the 2024 season is about to get started, Dak Prescott is getting ready to start his 9th season as QB of the Dallas Cowboys. If one takes a look, Dak Prescott is only 4,725 passing yards away from becoming the All Time Dallas Cowboys Career Passing Leader.

Not bad after only starting 9 seasons, considering it took Tony Romo 10 seasons as a starter to become the current franchise passing leader, along with Troy Aikman before having taken 12 seasons.

What do you think? Will Dak Prescott become the Dallas Cowboys Career Passing Leader by the end of this upcoming 2024 season?
I hope he doesn’t get the record this year and that the running game excels.

You accuse everyone of playing games but it's clear the one who's playing games.
No....im pretty straight-forward. I dont play both sides.
Use stats when its convenient....or "team game" as battering rams. Its willy nilly half the time.

In this case, i appreciate daks passing prowess. It does take the whole offense to make it happen. A bad oline or inept receivers make it harder to do.

Right?
