Was that the only name you saw?
What about the others?

I only said Emmitt because the thread was about him saying for Dak to take less. But yes I was against Romo and D-Law getting as much as they got. And I was against Zeke getting paid because he still had two years left, but at least he was at the top of his position when he got top pay.

Jones did everything possible to get the most out of Dak. You know, like trade away a first for Cooper mid-season.
He was forced to trade for Cooper because he cut Dez, Brice Butler, and traded away Ryan Switzer. Jerry Dumbo GM Jones ran around the 1/2 the 2018 season talking about not needing a no.1 WR. Witten retired and Hanna retired before Witten. Did Jones make a move in free agency to help his QB? Hell no. Jones stripped his defense, offense and signed no impact free agents from 2016-2019. KC had 4 former Cowboys on defense. Dak Prescott is the only Cowboys QB not to play with a no.1 WR or no.1 TE and starting C. Meredith had Hayes and Norman, Staubach had Pearson, Ditka, and Billy Joe Dupree, White had Hill, and Cosbie. Dak had nothing to start 2017 or 2018. Why? Because Jerry saw the 4 year discount he had in Prescott to line his pockets and not line up a Super Bowl team.

With 25 potential free agents 2020, and +74M in cap space, what will Jerry Jones do? What he always does, sell you a lie, sign no free agent football player that can make a difference, and finish 8-8 or worst.

LOL right, Dez, Butler, and Switzer being were such major disasters. A return specialist and a JAG were the keys to our success. Oh and a guy who is begging for his job back here when no one else will sign him.

Prescott has a great offensive line, Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, and Zeke. 8-8.

You do know that this is incorrect right? Emmitt's rookie contract had ended when he "held out." So in fact it was not a holdout it was a contract negotiation. The 4 year rookie contract did not become the norm until the CBA went into effect in 1994 and the 5th year option didn't show up until I wanna say mid 2000's. So at the time Emmitt was not under contract to the Cowboys anymore and was free to do what he wanted in terms of negotiating. He would have been stupid to play without a contract because if he got hurt the team owed him nothing. The Cowboys were stupid to play hardball with the guy who was the engine that made the team go but at least they learned from that and never did so again.

Do you have any idea how foolish you sound. Prior to the current CBA there wasn't any control over how long any contract could be If it was like you think it was if you tried thinking first before writing you would have realized that free agency WAS around then yet no other team tried to sign Emmitt and why BECAUSE HE STILL HAD 2 YEARS LEFT ON HIS ROOKIE CONTRACT.. Another reason you proved you are 10,000% clueless on this is never at any time could a player ever play a single down without a contract so your "He would have been stupid to play without a contract" is hilarious. A player has to be on the active roster to be able to play and if they have no contract they can't be on the active roster. News flash Aikman signed a SIX year contract as a rookie. Like I said there were no controls on how long rookie contracts could be back then. Next time do a lot of research before you look foolish.

According to Emmitt he didn’t have a contract when he sit those 2 games out....

“If you do your research and do your studies, you’ll find out that Emmitt Smith was never a holdout,” Smith said. “Although the propaganda would say I was a holdout, the reality is my contract was fulfilled and I was negotiating. I wasn’t holding out. … When you don’t have a contract and you’re unemployed, all you can do is negotiate.”

Why? Dak should squeeze every ounce out of the Cowboys that he can get.
It's not his job to save Cowboys' money. That's Jerry's and Stephen's.
Money? You're misreading this. We don't give two crapps on a personal level whether dak makes 27 mil or 40 mil. It only matters to us fans as to how it relates to building a super bowl contender.

I'm curious, as a fan, why don't you want us to compete for a super bowl?

Why didn't Troy, Emmitt, Romo, D-Law and Zeke take less? Why didn't they give the team a discount?

Oooh, but Dak all of a sudden should?

Not that I agree with Dak requesting top pay, but how can one player demand that of Dak when they didn't do that themselves?
Here's the easiest way to put the dumb talk to bed........."Would you take less at your job?"

As a rookie in 1990 Emmitt signed a FOUR year contract. Then THREE years later in 1993 he HELD OUT for a new contract when counting that year and the LAST year of his rookie contract he still had TWO years remaining. Funny thing, not ha ha funny, wait it is ha ha funny, no matter how I worded it in google I didn't find a single article that said that back in 1993 Emmitt was just negotiating a new contract but I did find countless articles that were titled he was a hold out or he held out. Now there was already free agency in 1993 and if according to ONLY you Emmitt wasn't still under contract and was "unemployed", then EVERY team would have been able to negotiate a contract with Emmitt yet not a single team other than the Cowboys did. Why, because HE WAS STILL UNDER CONTRACT!!!.

Don't know about Troy, but in 93 Emmitt had just came off of back to back rushing titles, and the cap didn't go into effect till 94. Different circumstances. Dak's coming off an 8-8 season, the cap is in full effect, and Jones and Coop may be gone if they overpay Dak.
Dlaw and Zeke were clawing and scratching for everything they could get their hands on, and Jerry overpaid them pure and simple.
Now the Cowboys are paying the price cap-wise for it.
Once you start down that road of overpaying, it's like walking on cap quicksand.
Overpay 1 guy and the 2nd guy expects it, then the 3rd then the 4th.

Personally I absolutely hate the salary cap and the way it works, but as long as the cap is in effect, like it or not, you're cutting your own throat when you start overpaying. It's as simple as that.

Only so much money to go around to build a complete team

How did Dak Prescott, according to many, step into the most talented offense/complete team ever in 2016 with Romo's massive franchise QB deal on the books?

Dak didn't come in with a huge salary.

But Romo did. Forget that Dak ever existed or that he ever played a game in 2016. How did the Cowboys create this amazing talented/complete roster...when Romo's salary was eating up a disportionate amount of the cap space? I thought that teams could not field amazing rosters with mega QB contracts on the books...
