Dak struggled last week with very little help but tonight he outplayed Herbert!

Herbert had MUCH better pass protection than Dak, but played a MUCH worse game!

That is a FACT!

Dak was forced to scramble around ALL game long. He was sacked 4 times( one was maybe his fault, but no one was open on that one!). BUT, Dak was still able to move the team down the field when he needed to. He was able avoid the rush on enough plays, and make really good throws, to help lead us to victory. The running game didn’t help Dak either. The FG drive was excellent!

On the other hand Herbert missed wide open receivers, with no pressure, throughout the game.

Herbert was not clutch, Dak was.

Last week, I was ready to give up on Dak, but tonight he looked very good considering he was forced to carry the offense.

I will say the D played EXCELLENT. They were put in a lot of tough situations and only gave up 17 points. Micah came thru with the big sack AND Gilmore, played like the smart veteran he is, and jumped the route on the int!!!!!!!
I really don't put much stock in QB "head to head".

Dak played well...didn't mess his pants. Really nice TD run.

It's up to the defense to beat their QB.

Dak didn't look good. Got sacked when it wasn't needed. Overthrew WR's all night. Was terrible at executing the tush push. Consistently threw short of the first down marker. It was painful to watch him run the offense.
It's weird. It's ugly, lethargic. Awkward. Some of our pickup flag football games have more excitement!

There's little crispness, precision.

I normally don;t like players celebrating every single decent play, especially CeeDee's....but that was about the only source of LIFE and ENERGY I saw.

Even Dak's run TD was sort of anti-climatic.

Jerry told us pregame about energy, but not sure he told the players.

There is a small number of qb's I'd happily swap Dak for, Herbert is not one of them.
If Herbert had a great game last night and Dak played poorly, you would feel differently. I know there’s a lot of fans here that are dogging on Herbert, because he had a bad game and Dak outplayed him. It’s just fans living in the moment. Prior to this game a poll was started asking fans if they were happy with Dak as QB and more than 90% said no. A lot of fans live from week to week with Dak. I’ve seen fans claim they’re fine with him when he has a good game but when he has a bad game the same fans claim he sucks and they want to move on from him.

Herbert looked exactly like he looks every time I’ve watched him play. Herbert and Trevor Lawrence are the 2 most overrated QBs in the league right now.

His defense is the worst in the league, so winning becomes an issue for him even though they are putting up points.
His defense wasn’t that bad last night. They sacked Dak at least four times. Herbert missed some wide open receivers last night. One would have been for a TD.

Our Defense had 18 pressures. There qb missed some wide open players. Dak seemed to be pressured alot also and missed some wide open players but not as bad as last week. The difference was he used his legs this week and made the throws. Had a designed run that he took to the house. Pollard on a wheel route couldn’t come down with it or we win bigger. That ball looks like it was over the shoulder but Pollard looked funny trying to adjust. He is not a WR. Lol.

Parsons shows up at the end beats a double team for the sack. Then the pressure on the next play caused the pick. They closed it.

Wow, he is not clutch. For 50 some million a year he needs to deliver in the 4th quarter. If I was a Chargers fan I’d be pretty angry.
That's a pretty eye opening stat for Herbert, that's not a pretty stat for the 2nd highest paid QB in the league. I never realized how anti-clutch he was, chalked up a lot of their losses to their bone-headed HC, but their HC didn't throw all those 4th qtr INTs with the game on the line. This place would be burned to the ground if that was Dak.

I was going to post a thread but you beat me to it. I think Dak=Herbert=Dak. They are incredibly similar. Both have just enough talent to build up your hopes, but not enough to make them come true. Herbert is big, athletic, has a good (not fantastic) arm. But he misses "just enough" of the absolutely critical plays that he can't win consistently. The goal line throw, as Aikman pointed out, was way too late. Should have been one step throw. Meanwhile, Dak just overthrew a couple of deep balls by a foot and completely missed CeeDee in one of his scrambles, which is understandable. Gallup should have had the one TD throw. Bottom line, I've watched Herbert for some time and he won't get better.

Kellen Moore is just playing possum for a greater plan. He's playing 4D chess while everyone else is lagging behind.
Certainly the stats bear you out. However, a) he lost, b) McCarthy made it clear he wants a more running team and I'm betting Moore just refused to do it---all the while admitting so far we have run like crap this year.
It's unfathomable to me why, with two all-pros and a burgeoning all pro we cannot block the run. I don't know if Biadiaz is the weak linke, or Steele, or the TEs or what/ Many here have rightly said Pollard was MUCH better as the change of pace back. But even then, I recall when Zeke used to just burst through lines for 20, 30, or 40 yards. There is something badly wrong with our OL. Only if/when we fix that can we correctly judge how good/bad Moore was, becaues it's possible he threw so much more because he just didn't think we could run.

Oh, and why are the Egirls the only team that can pull off the tush push?

I was one of the 90+% of fans that voted I was unhappy with Dak going forward, Herbert was and is not what I propose doing about it.

No. They really are clones in terms of their promise vs. their performance.

Herbert is rated as one of the top five QBs in the league. What do you propose doing about Dak that would improve our QB situation?

I recall when Dak was very highly rated. This means nothing. He is consistently one of those Kirk Cousins-type disappointments. Has all the tools, just never seems to get it done.

In fairness, so was Matthew Stafford til he got to the Rams . . . for one year. However, Jared Goff, whom I think is quite limited, is playing lights out within his system. Kinda reminds me of Brad Johnson or Kerry Collins when
they were with the perfect teams for them.

O yeah if that was Dak this place would be on fire. Like I said I’m glad I’m not a Chargers fan. They’re paying that much for that production. I think stats and yards are great and all but can the QB get it done when it matters. Herbert is a stats guy but can’t get it done when it matters. I wouldn’t want him as my QB.
