I don’t agree that Romo would have given us the best chance to win that year. His playoff/elimination game record was 2-6. We tied a franchise record with 13 wins under Dak in 2016. We never won 13 games in a season with Romo nor did we ever win 11 straight games with him. We never rallied back from a two score deficit in a playoff or elimination game with him. Anytime we got down by two scores in a do or die game with Romo it led to the Cowboys being blown out. He was too much of a gunslinger who tried to get everything back all at once end it usually led to a disaster. He would lose his poise in some of these games and start throwing balls up for grabs. He had something like 6 turnovers in the two season finale elimination games we lost. One of those games led to a 44-6 debacle at Philly. Another one was a loss to Washington against a one legged RG3. He tossed 3 INTs in that game. Dak has only had one bad playoff game against San Francisco last season and we were in that game until the end.
And there was the blowout loss to the Vikings one season in the playoffs when Romo was the QB. And the Cowboys have fallen behind by double digits in elimination/playoff games where Romo was the QB. But for some reason, some Cowboys fans want to believe that 2016 would be different. And believes the Cowboys would not have fallen behind to the Packers in 2016 if Romo was the QB.
The Cowboys had ugly losses in big games and elimination games, even when Romo was several years into starting for the Cowboys and considered a veteran at the QB position. And Romo even going years into being a starting QB, would make costly mistakes or would QB offenses who struggled in important games. But some wish to give him the benefit of the doubt, by blaming the team and players he had around him.
There tends to be revisionist history as some insist that Romo never had or QBed the types of ugly losses or bad offensive games, like the Cowboys have had at times with Dak.
