Dak is a liability now, he cannot be trusted to take care of the ball. That means we are going to have to start being way more conservative and rely on the running game and defense to win.

Dak has to be managed like he is an undrafted rookie, that means pretty much only "safe throws" where the pass is either completed or incomplete. No more of these sideline routes that are pick 6s every dam week. No more short passes over the middle where the LBs are just sitting on the routes, no more throws into tight windows, just cut his reads down to one half of the field to simplify everything.

Yeah, it sucks that you have to baby your $40 million dollar QB because he cant stop turning the ball over, but it is what it is. Since we cant get rid of him due to his contract, we are going to have to manage him way more next season because he is too much of a liability to just let him be aggressive, those day are over.
You can't take away risky throws, sideline routes and short passes over the middle and have any kind of a passing game, or even a good football team for that matter.

Name me one quarterback that was "managed like a rookie" and won it all. There are none.

I saw a stat the other day that, if memory serves, said only two quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, since the merge, that went to a SB after being the starter for more than 6 years, one was Ken Anderson with the Bengals, again if memory serves. So the chances of Dak doing it are slim at best.

I said before the season Dak had to make significant progress as a quarterback before I would have any hope he'd win a SB.

Well, he didn't, had some good games, but followed up the TB game with another clunker. If it's a choice between Dak and Rush, or somebody like Dalton, Carr or the like, I'd keep Dak, he's as good as the others mentioned, you won't improve the team by swapping Dak for one of them. No point in just churning the roster.

Not sure the cap would be able to do it, but you'd have to bring in Rodgers to really improve the quarterback play, and I'm not all that certain Rodgers still has "it", we don't have any better of a receviing corps than GB does, and we saw Rodgers struggle this year.

Sadly, the best we can hope for is for Dak to play out his contract, make the playoffs, maybe win one playoff game the next couple of years. Enjoy beating the Giants, etc. at least once during the regular season and be able to watch the 'Boys win 10-12 games. Better than watching them lose tons of games during the season.

That sucks, but as long as Jerry pilots the ship, it ain't ever leaving the dock...

Possibly we’ll have a different coordinator next season so maybe they can dumb things down like it’s 2016.

Yes. If we did something we showed absolutely no signs of being able to do , we win the game. That’s not the topic here. If Dak doesn’t throw 2 ints and everything else is the same. We lose. That’s the topic.
But you present that as if there are no alternatives. There are. If he doesn't throw the interceptions, we could win. And that because the interceptions were tied to points they got being deep in our territory and points we did not get being deep in theirs.

I normally think that Fish is pretty astute....but his idea that Dak becoming a "Bus driver" and quit "Slinging it around" to avoid careless interceptions makes no sense. Why? Because the offense is already bland, and most of Daks picks aren't on "Slinging it around" type routes.....most of them aren't even over 15 yards. Not following Fish on this take at all....Dak's picks are largely due to "lack of judgement" and "inaccuracy"

This is an excellent point Mannix.

Brett Favre threw tons of picks, but those were always him just slinging the ball all over the yard trying to make plays. Favre didnt throw picks because he struggled reading a defense or because he didnt see a LB sitting on an 8 yard out.

Dak is not throwing "Favre picks", I could live with that to some extent. Instead, he is throwing picks on just basic routes. That is what is most disturbing about all of this.

OC's main responsibility is ensuring the offensive unit runs efficiently. (Is dak part of the offensive unit?)

Some of their key duties include:

  • Designing offensive plays
  • Making decisions about who plays what position
  • Helping players understand their specific roles (including Dak)
  • Preparing players for game situations (including Dak) <------------------------- a real OC needs to help him .
  • Scouting upcoming opponents
  • Training, teaching, and helping players with execution (including Dak) <--------------------- a real OC needs to help him .
  • Playcalling

What is Kellen Moore good at, in this list ?

What is it he does & is really good as OC ?

37 pass attempts to just 22 run attempts. We all know what that means. This is as much Kellen's fault. It was a 7 point game. Why are we throwing so much???

At this point all the Cowboys can do is beef up the OL the best they can. Make sure the run game can't be stopped and Dak can stand there all day when he does have to pass.
Good points...............we need to become like the Tennessee Titans when they had Tanny at QB.

Good offensive line, strong defense, excellent running game, and have the QB throw the majority of his passes off play action and all you ask of your QB is to just not turn the ball over.

The Titans rode this formula all the way to the AFC Title Game.....................we can do the same thing.

Paying your QB 40M , you expect him to protect the football.
I agree, but it is painfully obvious that he cant or wont..................so only thing to do now is make him a bus driver like Tanny is for the Titans.

Only way we can make a deep playoff run with Dak at QB......................or we wait 2 years and let Dak walk when his contract expires and draft somebody else.

Never been a problem in past seasons. Another made up troll issue that isn't there.
