I don't think there are any "safe" routes for Dak. He has no "touch". Take a look at the best quarterbacks throws. They lead the receivers virtually every time and the balls are on easy arcs that make them easy to catch. Dak throws too many balls hard, perhaps because he is trying to squeeze the ball into a narrow window of opportunity on a defended player. Those hard throws can result in bounces off the receiver which can wind up in the wrong hands. And finally, look at how often Dak throws the ball BEHIND the receiver. Instead of catching the ball in stride, the receiver has to make a very difficult catch--or even become a defender himself to keep the opponent away from intercepting the ball. After all these years he still cannot judge the speed of the receiver in relation to the necessary arc to help the receiver make the catch.

You only give him a certain number of "safe" plays to run, you treat him like he is an undrafted rookie.
And we still lose. The easier you make the offense the easier it is for the opposing defense to stop the play. You want to run the ball, the defense will stack the box, and so on. You have to have a large number of different plays and formations to keep the defense guessing.
The amount or type of plays being ran is not the problem. The problem is Daks gets tunnel vision and doesn't read the field correctly. He needs to be trained to slow his mind down but for some QB's its something that just can't be taught.

he doesnt need to be managed he needs to open his eyes when he throws

because if youre telling me he threw 11 of those horrible 17 ints (playoffs included) with his eyes open then i'll tell you hes contractually obligated to throw them or being paid by the other team

What's different that he's had an increase over time vs a decrease in INTs?

OC's main responsibility is ensuring the offensive unit runs efficiently. (Is dak part of the offensive unit?)

Some of their key duties include:

  • Designing offensive plays
  • Making decisions about who plays what position
  • Helping players understand their specific roles (including Dak)
  • Preparing players for game situations (including Dak) <------------------------- a real OC needs to help him .
  • Scouting upcoming opponents
  • Training, teaching, and helping players with execution (including Dak) <--------------------- a real OC needs to help him .
  • Playcalling

What is Kellen Moore good at, in this list ?

What is it he does & is really good as OC ?

Dak is Jamis Winston 2.0

Dak is one of those QBs.

We have no idea if KM is a good OC or not. He’s handicapped by Dak.
There's more truth in this than most realize. The coaches know so much more about the players than fans ever will. They work with the players every day- on and off the field. KM knows Dak's weaknesses better than almost anyone.

Dak is a liability now, he cannot be trusted to take care of the ball. That means we are going to have to start being way more conservative and rely on the running game and defense to win.

Dak has to be managed like he is an undrafted rookie, that means pretty much only "safe throws" where the pass is either completed or incomplete. No more of these sideline routes that are pick 6s every dam week. No more short passes over the middle where the LBs are just sitting on the routes, no more throws into tight windows, just cut his reads down to one half of the field to simplify everything.

Yeah, it sucks that you have to baby your $40 million dollar QB because he cant stop turning the ball over, but it is what it is. Since we cant get rid of him due to his contract, we are going to have to manage him way more next season because he is too much of a liability to just let him be aggressive, those day are over.
I would have loved to watch Maher standing on the sideline yelling "Moore, run the damn ball" after Prescotts second INT against the 9ers.

This is what we've become. A team that beats some good teams (but also a lot of weaklings) a low draft order and lots of prohibitions on a JAG quarterback.
