Dak Prescott signed a 4 year , $240,000,000 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including $80,000,000 signing bonus, $231,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $60,000,000. In 2024, Prescott will earn a base salary of $1,250,000 and a signing bonus of $80,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $43,382,647 and a dead cap value of $195,270,294.

Kirk Cousins signed a 4 year , $180,000,000 contract with the Atlanta Falcons, including $50,000,000 signing bonus, $100,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $45,000,000. In 2024, Cousins will earn a base salary of $12,500,000 and a signing bonus of $50,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $25,000,000 and a dead cap value of $90,000,000.

Derek Carr signed a 4 year , $150,000,000 contract with the New Orleans Saints, including $28,500,000 signing bonus, $100,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $37,500,000. In 2024, Carr will earn a base salary of $1,210,000 and a restructure bonus of $28,790,000, while carrying a cap hit of $12,668,000 and a dead cap value of $62,800,000.

There really isn't that much of a difference between the 3 QBs in terms of overall impact but the salary difference is substantial.

Do you think we'd go out and get some defensive linemen and a rb with our cap savings? Or would we sit on our hands and continue to make sure there was enough "pie" left for our super star draft picks?

There’s context missing. Kirk Cousins got his deal coming off a AcL injury and missing most of the season and he’s 35 years old.

Derek Carr got his deal sucking in Oakland.

Dak got his as a All Pro.

You’re missing context which I’m sure is intentional.

It's even sadder when you look at the Baker Mayfield deal.

Apparently enough stans buy Dak jerseys and ceiling posters to keep Jerrah happy.

Completely different tiers of players. Cousins has been historically bad against good teams his career. After his injury (before that he looked like he could be elite), Carr has been a mid tier QB that hasnt been able to play at a high level with any consistency

Dak deserves his criticism, but this isnt it

we will have to carry it over to 25 to lighten our QBs cap hit of 90 mils.

I expected Dak to be at the top-ish. I still don't get how he reset the market, by 5 million AAV, and got a huge signing bonus and guarantees.

They literally dragged this out for months, and probably caved on every demand.

Even then it's a legitimate question. They have a philosophy and appear to be so entrenched in it they see value in paying Zeke and Cook over a guy like Mixon to save a few million per year.

Might not be the best example, but I'm not sure we use that money in any other way.

Carr has been in the league 12 years and never won a playoff game..... Cousins has just one playoff win in pretty much the same amount of years.....

according to the quarterback cops around here, what does that mean?

I'm just curious to see how far the goalposts are moved.

2 large contracts and not more than a 1st round win.
He deserves criticism at every level.

This contract is an albatross

It made for a perfect excuse not to go in on free agency and to stay in the news. I think they got what they wanted.

Yea those contracts may be better deals BUT Cousins is still recovering and Carr got paid based on what he did with the Raiders. Dak has been better and had better teams. He's the better qb, but maybe not by enough to justify the money. The market is what it is. We still had a ton of money on the books for Dak. Those guys weren't options.

Hey, at least we didn't pay Daniel Jones.
