Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

Cam has been to the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 seasons.
So has Aaron Rodgers.

Backing up passing it 50 times a game is as or more dangerous than running forward expecting contact.

Dak is throwing the ball away as opposed to taking sacks which is a key to his longevity. Sitting in the pocket taking shots from 300 pound dudes while your body is open to pass is far more deadly than getting passed the first line of defense and taking a hit on the second level with the ball tucked.
Being a "pocket passer" and throwing it away are not mutually exclusive.Being able to make plays consistently is important and it is hard to do that without at least some pocket concepts. If Dak plays the way he did last night, we won't be any better than 10-6 (at best). He will simply need to be more consistent if we want to seriously compete. BTW, over the course of his career, Cam's defenses have carried him more times than the other way around. I've never heard that said about Rodgers.

Nothing to hate with Dak this week. Got the win at home against a talented Giants defense. Not every QB is going to throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs and sometimes you just have to take the wins as they come.

Exactly, and we didn't exactly look lethal in 2014 or 2016 at the start of those seasons, but we got hot as the season got on. Teams can have that happen, especially with a new crop of WRs and TEs. Taking time for that to come together is bound to happen. The good news is our defence looks good, and the relationships between Dak and the WRs are starting to develop. This will benefit us as the season progresses. I got the distinct feeling last night watching them at it that we will be alright this season offencively. A lot of the problems that we've seen offencively between Dak and the WRs will tidy up as the season goes on, and the stats will look better. We also have to stop with the penalties. You can't expect to move the ball effectively when the yellow handkerchief is being thrown on the field.

I would go back and watch his game. Aside from running for some big first downs he only threw 9 incompletions. When he had time he was spot on. Of his 9 incompletions he had 3 throw aways, 1 tipped pass. Threw a bad pass to an open Rico, threw three incompletes on tough passes on the deep ball to Thompson (looked like DT gave up at the end) and the short pass to Rico where he was under serious pressure and threw off his back foot just out of his reach and the pass to the endzone to beasley. The deep ball to Gallup should have been caught and in bounds. They need to throw 2-3 deep balls per quarter no matter what. i don’t care if they only complete 40% of them, its still the only way to keep the D honest. This is a new wr corp. they improved from week one, if that continues they will be ok.

Yes, and I think that's a TD if he catches it.

You are entitled to "feel" this way but that's exactly what it is, a feeling.
There's zero logic or reason behind it.
It's opinion and thus pointless to discuss beyond that.

Oh, did he? Right then! Still, the point is that I don't think that he got on all that well with Garrett. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a rift between them.

I think he was tight with all of them, but somebody either coz injuries or that contract kicking decided to bow to media pressure and kick Romo to the curve..it was a bad look and i knew when they didnt go back no matter what our opportunity to compete for a sb gone..As great a year as Dak had in 2016, there is a reason no rookie has taken his team to a sb..To me it was self evident..Its another reason that a large part of the base jumped back on the wagon, and now exuding zero patience because they didnt think they were playing for the future..We just went through and still in.a offensive rebuild..I say unrealistic expectations are in play...It could be a whole lot worse..

Using Thompson a lot also. That bomb to Austin was just what they needed. More deep shots during these games will back them defenses out of the box.

The whole team looked more in sync last night.

Defense has to work on tackling. They let barkley get way to much. Our first defender has to get him down. He should have been tackled for a loss at least 5 times.

Yes, as good as our defence is, we DO need to wrap up better. That's two games in a row where teams got extra yards because we tried to arm tackle too much. Wrap up, and our defence will probably be top 5 with the way that they're developing.

Yes, an

SPOT ON BRO..The missed opportunities happen in every game..Less with experienced qbs..GUYS New tightends, several new Wrs...And two very tough defenses..Dak has been run through the ringer last two years. BUT thats life in the Nfl City if the big D..Lol

My got i said this already..They already are. LOL

Yes, I agree with that. We're expecting him to be Tom Brady when we really ought to be tempering our expectations a bit, especially with new receivers excluding Beasley and TWill. This is a completely overhauled crop of WRs, and we have a crew of TEs that we haven't got the foggiest idea of how well they'll turn out. A lot of the mistakes last night, as @JW82 pointed out, were probably due to a lack of timing and practice with these chaps. That pass to Gathers looked like something that they haven't quite worked the kinks out of yet. I think that'll be a TD the next time they run it though. We need to be patient with this offence while it develops. They've actually done rather well for only having been together for 2 weeks and skipping the third preseason game (coaching error imo) this year.

I cant embed the numbers but i would if could..Anybody have the secret ?

Yes, and it'll get worked out as the season goes on. I presume that Dak and the rest of them are probably working on those things starting today to improve its success next go around.

Wrong. He played well, but then you have to actually watch the game instead of just looking at the stats and backing out the longest play.

I'm not sure I would say well, but it was acceptable. Certainly not bad.

DAK was feeling it..Unfortunately his security % is directly related to his feet..He doesnt feel safe, his feet goto kansas..lol

Presume this is the play you're thinking about. Look at it in real time & watch Dak's eyes for the reads.

Idk man. It's hard to say without being in Dak's shoes at that moment but it looks like the open man comes into clear view about the same time he's throwing. The pocket was clean enough to wait one more fraction of a second and have a clear throwing lane, too. I must be failing to see your point here. Between the distance and traffic I feel like he's got a better view of the open man than the deep man.

Well, I think that's where allowing him to run more helped. He was able to freeze the Giants defence a bit more which freed up the receivers. This was due to the fact that they ultimately had to put someone in there to watch for him which freed up a WR.

Being a Dak critic I was so hyped when he through that bullet in the 4th qtr for a first down but nullified by a holding call. THATs what I want in a Cowboys Qb. He was confident and threw that pass on a rope. If he could just do this with more consistency I would be pleased to no end. The running of course was very effective and perhaps this is his stronger suit.

They have been, the oline is dealing with there dancing in the middle..These defenses have earned there money suppressing the run game with the guys in the middle.Zone concepts actually start @Lg and the center, with the cut back like a book unfolding..get too much penetration at the guard center gap, elliot doesnt get off.. He ran hard either way yesterday..

I know... it's only a feeling that most GMs in the NFL have. Truth be told that your feeling that what I stated has "zero logic", is merely a feeling that has zero logic.

It's a childish game, but you started it. :p
