For the WCO I don't like any of them much as I don't see them as accurate passers or either good decision makers. Rather keep Rush.
To be honest, I couple on the list may actually cost more than Rush, but I'm starting to think they are ready to move on from him anyway. Haven't read/heard anything, just a guess.

  • Baker Mayfield.....................................this guy here....
  • Jameis Winston...always seems injured ....
  • Sam Darnold ...... doesn't seem to have it ... but maybe worth a chance to see what a real GM in Jerry can do with him. :muttley:
  • Teddy Bridgewater ..... always seems injured ....

Please….Not Baker Mayfield. For multiple reasons:
  • He’s one of the most disliked players in any locker room. Just read about his time in Cle. They couldn’t wait to get rid of him. He’s so disliked they thought Deshaun Watson looked better.
  • Plus I don’t think he’s ready to accept a backup role.
  • He will demand a bigger salary than we would/should commit to a backup QB.
I think our next backup will either be a draft choice or a lower paid veteran.

May surprise a few but for me Jameis Winston is interesting. Sean Payton loves him. He was actually good before his injury last season.

first off how do we know any or all will be Available and what their expectation on pay and type of job they can get..

Baker, doubt he take B/U spot there will be better options at more money and starting job....

Jamis is interesting deepening on pay demands etc he may have an option at low end starters job

why? is rush gone, not yet so hes #1 choice, correct??

that doesn't leave much. I'll take TB because hes had to do ling spot duty before and will be ok with being a BU without running his mouth.

it's going to be Grier and a 7th round super star in the draft, if they can't get the 7th rounder they will hire some guy who wasn't even picked in the draft. Cowboys for life.

Mayfield. He's proven he can play when given the right situation. He beat out Darnold in a battle for the starting job at Carolina. The locker room crap in Cleveland is just a bunch of BS rumors. That's a dysfunctional franchise anyway. Remember how he played through injury. He could very well be too exensive for Dallas though.

Winston is a hard pass.

Brissett imo.

Of that list though, I'd lean more towards Bridgewater.
Interesting you mention him ...........check this out

Yep.........he and the new QB coach were teammates with the Colts. My guess is he's high on MM's list if we don't bring Rush back.

Indianapolis gives New England a call

During the 2017 offseason, Colts QB Andrew Luck underwent surgery on his shoulder due to issues from a previous injury. His rehab took longer than expected, and Luck would miss the 2017 season. In a rare player swap, the Colts sent WR Phillip Dorsett to the New England Patriots in exchange for Brissett.

Scott Tolzien started the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, but Brissett would take over in Week 2 and remain the starter. He threw for 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions as the Colts stumbled to a 4-12 record. After Luck recovered from his shoulder surgery, he would return to the backup role in 2018.

Indianapolis Colts[edit]

On March 11, 2016, Tolzien signed a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts worth $3.50 million with $500,000 guaranteed.[39][40] Due to a concussion to Andrew Luck, Tolzien made his first start for the Colts on Thanksgiving on November 24, 2016, throwing for 205 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in a 28–7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.[41]

With Luck being inactive due to a shoulder injury, Tolzien was named the starting quarterback to begin the 2017 season. On September 10, 2017, he started the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. Tolzien had 128 passing yards with two interceptions returned for touchdowns, until being benched in favor for Jacoby Brissett. The Colts lost by a score of 46–9.[42] Brissett started the next game against the Arizona Cardinals with Tolzien as the backup. After being benched, Tolzien had no more action in 2017. At the end of the year the Colts elected not to renew his contract, and he became a free agent.[43]

lets draft a young guy that can utilize the RPO so we have more options if and when Dakota gets injured yet again
Are you willing to trust your season and/or playoff chances with a mid-low-round rookie??????? It's the approach you have to take coz we could need him for only a half-game or 10 games, you never know.
