and we have seen Dak's floor in 2017 when Zeke didn't play. when OL struggled. Dak was bottom of the league type QB.

Dak is a direct product of his teammates...he doesn't seem to lift them and elevate them...its mostly the other way around.....we have all heard excuses for the lack of WR, we get a top 5 talent. we have seen how everyone just turned against OL because of Dak!!!. we have seen his lack of performance when Zeke didn't play or played great..... no one has benefited more by being surrounded by great talent like Dak. the question is if we put grapolo/carr or cousins with the same talent in the same situation what can they do? we have seen Grapolo lift SF with a bottom of the league type talent. we saw what he did two years ago, when he was traded. he LIFTED his team and his teammates....as for Dak he needs to be lifted...

the concern is not about 30mill per year...give him 40...give him 50. who cares...but he needs to be surrounded with high level talent, as we have seen to date. will giving him that much, handicap us in any way not to be able to sign cooper....and if we can't will we hear excuses that he doesn't have a top WR. if we can't resign Martin or Fredrick in a couple of years...will we hear, he doesn't have a top OL to protect him. if we don't sign Zeke, will we hear that we need to give him a strong back so he can do whatever...…

He had Amari Cooper healthy for like 8-9 games.

He had an injured dez, Beasley and an aging witten.

When was he surrounded by all this high level talent at the skill positions?

Many here are concerned about overpaying for Dak.
Many are weary about paying him Top money because they have doubts of his potential to be a Super Bowl winning QB.
While Dak's ceiling is in question/debatable, I think one thing we do know is what his Floor is.
Does anyone really think that he will regress from where he is now?
With his Floor being established as what we've seen up to this point, he deserves to be paid the market rate ($30-32 Million per year avg) for Top 10 QB's.
There is the Garpalo/Carr/Cousins range ($25-28 Million) and then the Ryan,Wentz, Rodgers, Wilson ($30-34 Million).
Dak may not be deserving of the Top 5 QB range but he has clearly demonstrated that he is above the upper Top 10 Range.
He has outperformed the $25-28 level QB's. He has demonstrated his ability to win and with the talent around him improving, he looks to have a chance to excel even more.
Therefore, anything less than $32 million a year seems unlikely.

This is a recurring problem in the analysis of contracts.

Other bad contracts do not justify us signing a bad contract. Just because a bunch of other teams overpaid their QBs, it doesn't mean we should too.

Other teams overpaying QBs is an opportunity for use to spend our money on *other* positions where the market is not overpaying the players.

Exactly. You can throw out Stafford, Garrapolo, Wentz, and Cousins. Those are bad contracts given to guys in hopes they will live up to it.

Dak threw for 20/32 attempts, 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD, 266 passing yards, 8.3 yards/completion, an 83.6 QBR and a 99.2 passer rating.

so now Dak is super hero because Witten Sucked. Dez was Injured and he only had Beas and not a super talented slot WR....

and yes, Mahomes had talent like hunt, which I guess we can compare to Cooper...and he had Kelce.... and Dak did have Zeke...….and then again Mahomes was incredible, one of the top passers in the game...… given those weapons he was top 5 if not top 3.... given weapons...Dak was average.....

Then he went from college and got drafted by the Cowboys and has been to two playoffs 2 out of 3 years. Not one losing season. Got better. Now he’s staring a new contract in the face with the same team with stats to back it up. Got better.
