Dak's Contract screwed us!

I have been a Dak fan an supported him overall, yet his new contract is so dumb (dumb, dumb, dumb). Let him play it out and then sign him if he does something.

Seriously, We sacrificed drafting a QB in the top 10 and actually having options or being forced to ride with him for the next 3 years with hard cap hits. Parsons and his big mouth, No OL help, No RB help, no DL to stop the run, and hoping a new coach in the next 2 years wants to even try.

What do we have? Diggs, and Lamb are the only building blocks we have.

I am sad, and never have I been this down on the team.

Again, I was never a Dak hater and still not, but you don't extend him.

I have a car loan right now. I would not re-finance it unless the interest allows me to pay it off sooner without sacrificing the age of the loan.

People can criticize Dak for his play and they can judge him for his salary demands, but there is only one person that screwed the Cowboys with that contract and he's not a player or a coach.

Dak did not force the team to offer him that contract. The team chose to do that. The decision was theirs to make and live with, and now they are.

Dak's contract is merely a legal form.

Jerry Jones's procrastination in getting the deal done is what screwed us.

The random probability of a QB going down in such a fashion is what screwed us.

The belief by Cowboys management that a 30 year old Dak Prescott could withstand the physical demands of a QB with a weak O-line and laughable running game is what screwed us.

Dak didn't plan on signing his contract and missing half the season due to injury. He did not screw us and his contract hasn't budged from the drawer in which it has been filed away so it definitely didn't screw us.

However, NFL games on pay-only TV....?

The script writers for the 8th season of Game of Thrones...?

Car 8-track players...?

The referees that made the no-catch decision during the Packer division playoff game in 2014 season....?

No offense, but BS.If the team has the will and gumption to sign guys, make moves, and yes, even get out of Daks deal, it can be done. We can make any move we want to make. Nothing has us screwed. Jerry and Stephen are the ones holding this team back, holding fans and coaches, hostage. They stubbornly think they are great at their jobs. They aren't.

Dak is the least of our issues. Look right at the very top. It starts and ends there. The other stuff is fixable.

Trust me we would be screwed regardless. If Cowboys didnt sign Dak all they would’ve done was spend that money on Lance, Biadiz, Armstrong, Parsons and Tyron Smith.

Father time comes for each of us, and in the NFL, deals are made to be broken when Father time says no more. Daks time in the NFL might not be long. We can draft whomever we wish, and sign anyone. It's not like there's a sure fire QB in the draft this year.

Daks contract is an issue, but the larger issue is the teams philosophy on talent acquisition in general. Unless Jerry chooses to make some serious fundamental changes to the way he wants to build a team and what success looks like to him the rest is irrelevant.
It's a fixable issue that will sort itself out organically.

The fact a deal was done at all is what screwed us. Dak never should've been resigned. I had hope over the off-season that this would be the last season under Dak, that we might move on and win something in the next few years. And that was why we weren't active in FA, we were resetting. But then they resigned him and nothing made sense anymore. What was it all for????

:hammer:

And the same person agreed to a no trade clause and a rolling salary guarantee that kicks in the previous year. If Dak is on the roster in March of 2025 his 2026 salary is guaranteed, Same thing is true in March 2026 for 2027.

Dak has a $90 million CAP number in 2025 which is the result of restructures from his previous contract. Jerry will make all this even worse if he restructures Dak again after this season.
