Dak‘s contract doomed the franchise for the foreseeable future. Anyone could see that before he signed except our senile GM.
I didn't see it...I am NOT groomed by the Owners to see fake news.

Dak Haters rather give Cooper Rush $40M or the next Trevor Lawrence Annointing Oil:laugh:

People can criticize Dak for his play and they can judge him for his salary demands, but there is only one person that screwed the Cowboys with that contract and he's not a player or a coach.

Dak did not force the team to offer him that contract. The team chose to do that. The decision was theirs to make and live with, and now they are.
The post was Dak's contract screwed the Cowboys, what's incorrect about that?

He’s proven over and over again that he’s great at padding stats against lesser teams and not able to get over the hump against really good teams even with a stacked roster. Just look at last year’s Greenbay playoff game, he’s done it over and over and over . It’s crazy to give a QB like that 60M a year and take up so much cap space. THAT’S NOT FAKE NEWS THAT’S REALITY.

Reality is that Jerry could have decided to move on from Dak this offseason. If he really had any long timed intentions or genuine wishes to spend more money in free agency to add to and build up the Cowboys roster. But some choose to keep on believing the cap space excuse of Jerry and Stephen keeps on giving. They had the perfect opening this offseason to let Dak walk and decide to draft a QB in 2025, if their plans and intentions were to ever start spending more by being more active in free agency and trading. And if they actually thought Dak was preventing them from any predetermined intention to spend more money.

But some will still act like Jerry wants so badly to become one of the top spenders in the NFL and that Dak forced Jerry to sign and extend him. And has held Jerry hostage from finding ways to spend more money to improve the team.

Jerry and Stephen actually may have preferred to sign Dak. Because they know it's easier for them to escape accountability by sitting back and watching the fanbase solely blame Dak for the failures of this franchise. And fault Dak for the front office's cheap roster building ways. Than it would be to move on from Dak. Then have the pressure be on them. Knowing it takes a competent and talented front office, to first hit on drafting the right QB. And then having to actually put in the hard work and real effort to give that QB all of the weapons and tools he needs to thrive and be successful in the NFL. Rather than just drafting a QB and refusing to use his rookie contract to make the team around him better through free agency. Then expecting him to take a roster full of cheap, bargain bin players and compete with other teams who have front office's actually putting in an effort to give their QB a chance to succeed in the NFL.

Because Jerry is the type of GM who would believe that a QB should be good enough to singlehandedly elevate the Cowboys and get them to the Super Bowl, with the current way the Cowboys structure their roster. Just because that QB was drafted in the first round. And there would be some in the fanbase who would agree with this and believe drafting a QB in the first round is enough to fix the Cowboys issues without the Cowboys front office having to put any real work to change the future of this franchise.

It's this guy you should be frustrated with, mad at, disgusted with, disappointed in.........and concerned with. He's got some so hoodwinked with roster building and contracts as the GM........you simply point to a player.

I don't know why a lot of you are complaining. Some of you were so desperate for a QB that yall wanted dak signed. There isn't that much damn desperation in the work. I wanted dallas to draft a QB. I don't care about the chances a drafted QB doesn't pan out. Just try anything but dak, and these idiots go and sign highest paid.

Sad part is, it didnt/doesn't take a genius to know dak would be a bad investment.

So what happened when the Prescott Offense gave the Team a led BUT the defense allowed Aaron Rogers to drive for game winning TD 7 seasons ago..

Dak Haters are phony....Move the Goalpost somewhere else

ALL this fluff.....I can see right down to the stupidity of asking a QB to win a game without a Defense or stopping the run.

Go sell your Dak Hate to uniformed Casual Fans....

We watch 22 game film...It's crazy to give a Casual fans a platform to spew trash.....FAKE NEWS

I supported Dak until Greenbay playoff game last January . He just doesn’t have it man, you will eventually come to the same realization.

:hammer:

And the same person agreed to a no trade clause and a rolling salary guarantee that kicks in the previous year. If Dak is on the roster in March of 2025 his 2026 salary is guaranteed, Same thing is true in March 2026 for 2027.

Dak has a $90 million CAP number in 2025 which is the result of restructures from his previous contract. Jerry will make all this even worse if he restructures Dak again after this season.
Do they have an option not to restructure his 2025 number or do we have to do that to field a full roster? I understand the optimal strategy would be not to touch his contract but I can’t image that’s an option

Of course they have that option. Restructuring is a choice.

Its certainly an option. It means that once again free agency is mostly a non factor for the Cowboys, but who knows if they would actually go that route or if this team is truly 1 or 2 free agents away from a competitive football team again anyways. IMO prepping for 2026 is the best thing this team can do at this point.
