If Romo goes down and is out 4 or 5 games it could be his last in a Cowboys uniform. Crazy to think about.

your absolutely right. I should have been more specific. Sports media were calling him developmental. The draft analyst I follow were saying all along he would surprise people once in NFL.

There was a weird dynamic leading up to the draft and shortly after. Early in the process seemed everyone had nothing but good things to say about Dak, and he was a bit of a sleeper. Each new blurb about him had him creeping further up draft boards and he was becoming somewhat of a draft darling. Almost in unison with the rise of Wentz, folks started shying away and all the developmental, raw, mechanics stuff became more prevalent. Even some of my friends who had shared in hoping we got him backed off as the draft approached and actually wound up disappointed that we got him. It's really weird how groupthink works once draft hype begins.

sorry, I should have added the disclaimer

"THIS IS A JOKE I AM ONLY KIDDING AND DO NOT THINK THAT TONY ROMO WILL PLAY FOR THE VIKINGS AND JETS I AM ONLY DRAWING A PARALLEL TO AARON RODGERS AND BRETT FAVRE FOR COMEDIC EFFECT AND TO PRAISE DAK IN A SILLY WAY"
C'mon man. Sarcasm and satirical humor requires a high level of intellect for both sides - teller and listener/reader. If it falls on the eyes or ears of mere mortals then mayhem will reign!!! Well played on the disclaimer! Lol!!!

But alas - you can't be doin' Monty Python to a Benny Hill crowd!?!

He looks good, but it's hard to really tell anything in preseason. Regardless, maybe we'll be lucky and when Romo's done, he can instantly step right in.
I agree that preseason success can be deceiving, but the other young QBs are playing in the preseason too, but they don't look nearly as good as Dak. He has field awareness, good mobility, ability to read defenses, a stronger arm than we thought, good decision making (for a rookie) and great leadership skills. Those things are evident preseason or not. Now, will he develop into what we want him to be? Time will tell, but I don't think our eyes are deceiving us.

Glad you said this because I felt same way. I had Wentz & Dak around same grade after bowl games and then they both started sliding in opposite directions. Its going to be fun to watch how this turns out.

I peeked my head in on a Giants message board today after their miserable performance against the Bills and there was a Dak thread and it was great. There were the usual "he's a pre-season flash" posts but there were a lot of people over there fretting that he is the real deal. This was a good one--

Dak looks like a stud, composed and athletic. We got Nassib who looks like he flips burgers at Steak & Shake. I loved Dak in college - now I hate that I am gonna have to hate him.

Then there was this one about Romo--

For as good as Dak looks, you better pray he plays a lot this year, that means Romo's hurt and it's the only way we can beat them.

I had to watch Dak light it up last night then had to watch Nassib and Eli look like crap today. Meanwhile, Dak looks like a stud, composed and athletic.

That's the funny thing about giants fans. They rag on Eli when he's horrible which is about 50% of the time. But when the Giants went on those two unprobable runs , Eli was the best QB ever.

That's true. I know some Giants fans who get how awesome the defense was on those runs and how fortunate Eli was on the Rodney Harrison drop in the Super Bowl. It's really a love/hate with Eli which I can understand when you lead the league in INT's 3 years.

Boy, they looked absolutely horrible today. Their offensive line has gotten manhandled two weeks in a row by Miami and Buffalo.

I didn't like that INT he threw that got called back for roughing the passer (he would've thrown the INT anyway) or the other near INT that got broken up by our WR. That being said, he looked very good on all his other throws. He's so quick and throws the ball with ease. But I don't want to see him on the field this year or next year. I hope he gets to learn behind Romo for 2-3 years. Hopefully he could be an Aaron Rodgers type with his physical abilities and a few years on the bench. I don't want him thrown to the wolves. He still has a lot of learning to do.

If Romo goes down I think Dak has the ability to perform as good or better than RG3 did his rookie year. With this offensive line and his ability to scramble he'll give defenses a headache which equals wins for us .

How about Dak! The haters and "gurus" never saw this coming and are still in denial. This kid can play! He is the future!

Against Miami: 12 of 15, 199 yards passing, a perfect 158.3 passer rating, two passing TDs, two rushing TDs. QB RATING 158.3 (PERFECT)

Against L.A.: 10 of 12, 139 yards, two passing TDs. QB RATING 154.5

I will admit that the kid has talent and shown some pro moves, but tap the brakes! He has to shown defense reading ability and setting the offense depending on his reads. He still has a way to go before he can back up Romo. I have him learning behind Romo for at less 4 games before he is ready to step in if Romo goes down from an injury.

If he is in the game when Seattle's first team defense is on the field next week we will get to see if he has a perfect score or needs more to time to study. I agree that he has the potential as our backup QB but tap the brakes until he cooks a little longer.

I've noticed over the past few years that the teeth have pretty much left that rivalry. We obviously want to beat them and vice versa, but the ugliness of the past isn't there and both sides seem able to be objective and show respect. Unlike the trash ***, POS Eagles contingent.

Also at this rate, romo will be playing his final years with the Vikings and Jets

Wow, wouldn't that be a slap in the face. He has been the training wheels for a coach who wasn't anywhere close to being ready to be a coach in this league. If they kick him to the curb they will literally waste his entire career on substandard coaching.

The best part is he'll beat you with his arm 9.9 times out of 10...but that 0.1 when you're slipping, he can run it.

He's just a straight up gamer. He gets in the game and it's like he transforms.
