1.) Top rookies. Randy Gregory didn’t play in the first quarter. But the second-round pick was on the field throughout the second and third quarters, recording his first sack shortly before the start of the fourth. Byron Jones was on the field often in the first half, leading the team in tackles with five solo during the first two quarters. He played corner the entire time. La’el Collins had one of the game’s best highlights, blocking two San Diego defenders as Gus Johnson rushed for a 5-yard score. Overall, a solid night for what some consider Jerry Jones’ three first-round picks.

2.) Defensive line rotation. The starting defensive line consisted of Jeremy Mincey at right DE, Tyrone Crawford at the 3-tech, Davon Coleman at the 1-tech and DeMarcus Lawrence at left DE. Hardy, who was on the field for eight plays, came in for Coleman in the nickel package. On the second series, Hardy joined Ken Bishop, Tyrone Crawford and DeMarcus Lawrence. In the second quarter, Randy Gregory made his debut at right DE. Coleman and Ken Bishop saw time at the 1-tech while Jack Crawford took over at the 3-tech and rookie Ryan Russell played at left end. Although the team recorded three sacks, that’s unlikely enough to make Rod Marinelli happy.

3.) Turnovers.

Up: Collins, Gregory, Jones, Wilson, Street, Escobar, Swaim, Johnson, J. Crawford, Gardner, Vaughn, Hartwell, Edwards, White

Down: Weems at LT, Dill, Bishop, Whitehead, Russell, Obada

Start packing up your locker: Greenberry, Hornsey

First and second team offense looked pretty good with the exception of the snap that got past Weeden.

The DEs did a nice job tonight, too bad the DTs didn't after the Crawfords left the game. Our secondary was very active the entire game and looks to be pretty deep.

Special Teams were awful with the exception of the one KO return.

Agree with the Up votes.

QB Vaughn looked good but he needs more time before he is a #2. Showers looked good and definitely made the practice squad.

The best thing about Randy Gregory's sack was that DLaw and Ryan Russell had even better penetration on the play. They forced the QB to step up, right into Gregory arms.

I thought S Tim Scott and CB Robert Steeples showed enough to make the practice squad.

Swain looked good (great use of a 7th round pick) and I agree with X's plan to keep 4 TEs and no FB.

Escobar looked good in routes, he just needs the ball thrown his way.

Weems will be the swing tackle, get significant playing time and do OK but nothing special. People will say they were spoiled having Parnell as the Swing Tackle and the irony will be lost on most posters.

I still think we trade for a RB late in the offseason.

Also I'm staying with Street as my breakout guy.

Gardner had a good game at DE and will make the team, Ryan Russell had a good game and might make the team now - I had him as a PS guy before.

There will be irony and humiliation galore. Ok, well maybe irony. Ok, well deafening silence.

Safe to say we have some depth. Like to see a bit more at DB but probably ok there.

Tim Scott looked good as well. Had a great break up in coverage. McCray played the run really well I thought. Edwards is up, was causing havoc when he was beside Gregory

I'd work Collins in both G and T if he can handle it. Save a Roster spot, keep an extra DE or Cb which ever is more valuable.

10 starters didn't play. Tough to judge.

Overall, a good night.

Heath should've been cut 2 yrs. ago, their has to be someone better than him out there.

Always loved the guys athleticism and knew it would take time to get him up to speed. He's taking too long to get to a trot.

Do we have anyone to replace him? Surely we do.

My first thoughts, which means nothing.

I still like Vaughan over Showers, but like what I seen from Showers. Weeded needed another series.
Johnson and Seastrunk. Well next week when the other 3 RBs return, this game meant nothing. They had some good moments but nothing to get excited about, not yet.
street looked good, Greenberry did not. Did not see enough of the other WRs.
Weems looked horrible, Collins looked very good. dill will soon be gone.

ST's need work, but it is preseason

Corey White looks very good, Heath get faked out way too often. Need to see more of Jones, guess he played different positions, but they didn't comment on him much.
Edwards has very good hustle. Even against 3rd team guys. Nice to see Gregory get a sack.
Wilson looked good at LB too. Brinkley whiffed on a few tackles, or just brushed the guy.

Need to see how each responds now. Nothing bad enough to cut any players. As who would be out there to come in and be better right now anyway.
