liked:

Escobar's improved arm strength to hold onto blocks. Reliable receiving target.
TWill extending consistently for catches.
all 3 QBs decision making outside of the almost delay of game. ball out quickly consistently.
1st and 2nd string receivers making contested catches.
Collins' power and finish. On the Weems hold, he got up a S and just body slammed him in a pancake.
Interior OL first and second string
Physicality of the team. Surge off both lines and effort on making/taking on blocks was excellent.
DT play of Coleman, Crawford, and Bishop
Wilson reading quickly and flashing into the A gap looking like Hitchens 12 months ago
Corner play

Didn't like:

Backup tackles are a trainwreck. Dill and Weems cannot set and block inside moves. Vaughn and Showers had to deal with free runners the entire time.
Harwell Farmer and the rest of that third tier WR. Not a lot of separation and a whole lot of drops.
Tackling. Outside of Barry Church who is probably the best tackler on the team no one seemed able to tackle. Particularly bad with the LB and secondary. Heath and Brinkley stood out.
Run fits particularly with DE and OLB who kept losing contain and getting trapped inside.
Special teams. More missed tackles. Gunners overrunning the catch. Converging on the ball and not keeping lane discipline. Fumble on the PR.

Brinkley was atrocious. Like horribly bad. How is he not on people's down list? He played himself off the team tonight.

Wilson looked good.
Coleman looked good.
Whitehead on returns looked REAL good - faster than Harris and it isn't even close. Yes, he can't fumble or he won't play, but Harris had a few fumbles (more than a few) when he was starting out too.
Showers is a player. Smooooooth release. Fast. Shifty. Isn't bothered by lack of height. Confident. He has some crazy throws into nowhere like a lot of green QBs, but his throws on target were ON target. Receivers made him look a worse than he was.

Vaughn is meh. Didn't show me too much more than Showers honestly.

All 2-3rd string receivers looked sucky.

Dill may be the worst OL ever to wear a Cowboys Jersey.

Johnson looked GOOD on short yardage, not that great otherwise. But we need a short yardage back. His run on 4th down and his TD run were NFL STARTER quality runs.

I meant that Brinkley stood out for missed tackles.

Hard to sift through that and get an idea of where the units are. Jones and White looked good to me in coverage for the most part.

The RB's are a mess, might end up being a mash unit with next man up every week :(
Gus can go or stay, I don't care......nothing special there.

Returner still looks to be in question, will hopefully get a better idea of Lucky after the next few games. If he can hang on to the ball, his upside is huge.

Stop wasting time with Vaughn and go with Showers. His passes seem to rarely be in stride with the receiver where they can catch and go. They have to reach back or leap for them often. Not to mention, I don't like his footwork.

Thankful that there were no significant injuries.

Weems is fine at RT, we only have a problem if Smith misses games.

Let's hope not. Plus, didn't we basically draft Chaz Green to be the swing tackle? Maybe once he's back from injury, he'll show why we spent the pick on him.

I wouldn't count on Chaz Green. He looked REALLY bad in OTAs...yes...they are only OTAs, but he looked REALLY bad; not just a little bad.

He had hip surgery in May and will miss all of camp. He won't see a game this year.

Maybe Green didn't look too good because of the injury he was nursing?

We are going to miss xWalker's boy because Free will miss games. Weems is not the answer.

Don't go putting Parnell in the Pro Bowl just yet; it is only pre-season. Lets' seem how he does when DCs scheme against him and opposing DEs study his film.

As for the game: the schemes were so vanilla it was pretty obvious that guys were all alone in their one-on-one match-ups. Most, except, Dill, won some and lost some. Dill lost every, I mean every, encounter.

I completely disagree with those who are down on Whitehead. The guy showed real flash in the return game. A fumble in a rookie's first game is a coachable moment and not a problem. If he fumbles again, then we may have a problem.

Last night was all about coachable moments. I would rather have a young team come out and make some mistakes in the first preseason rather than look perfect because it gives the coaching staff material to motivate them for the rest of camp.

Gonna be interesting to watch what they do with Collins if he continues to impress during the preseason games.

Things that stood out the most:
- Weeks is an AWFUL LT. Like terrible
- Dill has no reason to be on a NFL roster
- I was impressed by both Showers and Vaughn
- Special teams coverage was terrible
- Gregory crashed down attempting to rush and it created a huge hole/ cutback lane
- Despite the fumble Lucky seems like he has "IT".

That's from the top of my head right now. Oh Corey White played pretty darn good too. Brinkley was bad.

I think the fact that our #2 QB thought it was a good idea to bat away his own fumble needs to be addressed.

My first thoughts, which means nothing.

I still like Vaughan over Showers, but like what I seen from Showers. Weeded needed another series. - disagree. You could see right away his checkdown charlie mentality. Vaughn had much better downfield awareness.

Johnson and Seastrunk. Johnson has a separated shoulder and will most likely get an injury settlement.
street looked good, Greenberry did not - THIS. Did not see enough of the other WRs. - and this

ST's need work, but it is preseason

Corey White looks very good - I agree, Heath get faked out way too often. Need to see more of Jones, guess he played different positions, but they didn't comment on him much.
Edwards has very good hustle - He was a pleasant surprise. Nice to see Gregory get a sack - I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of team effort sacks this year. That whole line collapsed for his sack.
Wilson looked good at LB
and Brinkly and Gachkar definately did not.

Need to see how each responds now. Nothing bad enough to cut any players - Greenbury dropped two in his hands and only 1 was slightly behind him. He needed to catch that one.

What stood out to me the most: Nothing, except a bunch of guys that won some of their individual battles and lost some as well. I saw guys with a good chance to make what is already a very talented roster, and I saw guys that need to go back and get their college degrees if they have not already done so.

Overall, this game was an opportunity for rookies and fringe players to show they could compete one-on-one and make plays in a live-game environment. Most of the nonstarters did not "flash" but it does not matter since they will not be on the final roster. Those that did shine will get more playing time next week to see if they can improve on what they displayed last night.

Also I'm staying with Street as my breakout guy.

Gardner had a good game at DE and will make the team, Ryan Russell had a good game and might make the team now - I had him as a PS guy before.

Street looked VERY good. I would love to see more of him.
