Going to take awhile to sort thru some of the RBs. By then maybe there will be a vet RB to pick up. Not sure.

1. Devin Street vanished after Week 1 last season.

He didn’t make a catch. He was rarely targeted. Active for all 18 games during the 2014 campaign, the Cowboys wide receiver was confined to the margins of the roster and his stat line remained barren. He finished his rookie season with two receptions for 18 yards.

But on Thursday, Street reemerged from the shadows. By halftime, he led all Cowboys players with three catches and 45 receiving yards.

Street said recently that he wants to “be more of an asset, contribute more.”

Street worked this offseason to build his strength. He said he made gains in his upper body and core. Upon entering the NFL, he struggled to create separation and realized that good route running wouldn’t always solve that problem.
And while hasn’t completely overcome that deficiency, Street has made strides. On Thursday, Street showed he could get open, making a 21-yard catch on a third-and-17 play that set up the Cowboys’ first touchdown.

“I need one of those guys who go out there and win,” he said. “Trust is everything and that’s biggest thing I am trying to establish.”

Showers has a good chance to be our #2. He adds a new dimension with his scrambling ability. The defense looked porous on too many runs up the middle. The Offensive line didn't look dominant. I know it's just the first game. But I expected a little more. I'm just thankful we got through this one with no injuries.

Edit: Just hearing about the Bus now. Bad break. Hope it doesn't stop him in his tracks and he gets another chance.

Several sources tell us that an AC joint separation is what is commonly referred to as a "shoulder separation".

Special Teams really needs to step up. It seemed like every time, SD was starting at our 40. I think we have a ton of talent on offense and defense, but it's special teams that concerns me.

Seriously? I'd say he has a better chance of not making the practice squad. This team is pretty deep at a lot of spots so if Vaughn stays Showers is out. Either way Weeden will be #2. Red loves him.

We started the game with our 3rd and 4th string tackles.

liked:

Escobar's improved arm strength to hold onto blocks. Reliable receiving target.
TWill extending consistently for catches.
all 3 QBs decision making outside of the almost delay of game. ball out quickly consistently.
1st and 2nd string receivers making contested catches.
Collins' power and finish. On the Weems hold, he got up a S and just body slammed him in a pancake.
Interior OL first and second string
Physicality of the team. Surge off both lines and effort on making/taking on blocks was excellent.
DT play of Coleman, Crawford, and Bishop
Wilson reading quickly and flashing into the A gap looking like Hitchens 12 months ago
Corner play

Didn't like:

Backup tackles are a trainwreck. Dill and Weems cannot set and block inside moves. Vaughn and Showers had to deal with free runners the entire time.
Harwell Farmer and the rest of that third tier WR. Not a lot of separation and a whole lot of drops.
Tackling. Outside of Barry Church who is probably the best tackler on the team no one seemed able to tackle. Particularly bad with the LB and secondary. Heath and Brinkley stood out.
Run fits particularly with DE and OLB who kept losing contain and getting trapped inside.
Special teams. More missed tackles. Gunners overrunning the catch. Converging on the ball and not keeping lane discipline. Fumble on the PR.

The only thing that stood out to me was SD had good returns on all kicks !!
but I doubt that was the ST that will start.
They are just looking at guys, so really this game was just a warm up and look see.
Too bad about gus, at least he had a exciting moment on the td.
I will wait till I see 2 more PS games to judge anyone.
