That is a pretty fair list brother pretty darn accurate except trayvon diggs needs to go and Herb Adderley needs to be inserted there other than that it's pretty fair
It makes it really tough with guys from the old school dayz that we never got to see play,.. for the most part that's why I prefer the guys I've seen play

Guys like Bob Lilly ...Hayes, Rayfield Wright, Lee Roy Jordan, Howley ...and Mel Renfro would have to be some of the exceptions. (and so thank goodness for YouTube reels)

I just don't hear enuff about the Adderly's, etc.

Only I am not yet critiquing McCarthy based of his past GB super bowl resume , just his very short Cowboys career, (only 3 seasons, two winning) and mind you he has not yet been able to
influx his own offense here because of the Kellen Moore interference.

Actually some forget that Jason Garrett was actually once named NFL coach of the Year (2016) .
Right. And he deserved it though I don’t think he was a good coach here but he was able to win with a rookie RB and Qb as the focal points of his offense. Back to back 12 win seasons for Mike is pretty good for his resume though.

@quickccc

Two things I’d consider for future lists:

1. Some positions have multiple starters and some only have 1 and often none (FB, third LB, TE are often not on the field). Perhaps go for 10 spots at positions like WR, T, G, DT, etc, as it’s a little unusually to go with 5 centers and only 5 WRs, when each center played with 2-4 WR at any given point.

2. May be time to differentiate Pass rushing OLB’s with true offball OLBs, as they player very different positions. A good example of why is because Demarcus Ware and Charles Haley play the exact same positio ; it just depends on what defensive front you were in at that moment in time. Haley was an OLB in his first life under SF’s 3-4, then was a DE in your 4-3. Ware was the OLB in your 3-4 then a DE in Denver’s 4-3. Maybe just an EDGE group as the draft has changed to?

Thanks for Sharing ....

The reason why I've squeeze the choice options down to a very tight five is it presents more of a challenge.

Going top 10 makes it much more easier . too much easier to rank and press a list. Some deserving player is and has to be left off.
If anything maybe a " Honorable Mentioned " could be added.

With DEs vs blitzing LBs, having two position categories does help add the option choices between DE/OLB than lining both positions up as " Edge" for both DEs/OLBs
.

So most of this isnt based on skill right? Because there is no way that Zeke is in front of Murray and Walker. Walker might be #2 up there on RB talent.

Garrett #4? BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Owens was the most talented WR this franchise has ever seen.

To each his own, Roy

An argument can be made that while Murray still has the Cowboys single season rushing record, even more than both Emmitt, Dorsett and Zeke, ...does that make him
better than Emmitt, Dorsett and Zeke... ?

Cowboys gave up Murray to have a chance at drafting Zeke Elliott - why do you think that was, eh ?

On paper Hershel had a very unique blend or speed/power ... Unfortunately Hershel's power and Olympic speed did not translate him being the next Bo Jackson
- as Everson Walls once commented, Walker was somewhat " tippy-toed " running and stiff.

I didnt say he was better than Emmitt or Dorsett. But he was obviously better than Zeke. They were both within 2 years of one another. Same Oline, same offense. Murray was Zeke with better speed and receiving skills.

Murray was better than Zeke as a receiver ? .. Really ?
How many RB screen passes did Murray instantly take to the house ?

If Cowboys had felt that way about Murray, they would have instantly re-signed and locked him up long term as one of the better, highest paid RBs, instead of allowing him to
walk his way as a FA to the rival Eagles .... which turned out to be a bust move for Murray

You list Ditka as TE but he was only here a couple years. You didn't list Lance Alworth who was here the same time as Ditka, won a SB ring, caught a TD pass in that game, and oh BTW is one of the best to ever play.

So you agree that Murray was faster?

So now you know what the Cowboys were thinking? Are you incapable of forming your own opinions?

The Cowboys blew it with Murray. In my opinion, jerry thought any of 100 backs could go nutz behind that great Oline. What did he find out the next year? He was so wrong he went out and over did it drafting Zeke with the 4th pick. Typical Jerry.

The Eagles used a RB by committee. It was their philosophy.

When did I agree Murray was faster ? His combine time never translated to the NFL playing field.
He was not viewed as a homerun threat back.

The Cowboys' actions by Not re-signing Murray to a long term contract, and allowing him to walk as a FA.. ..tells you what they were thinking.

They don't let players who they consider Core players walk out as FA. ..they get re-signed long term.

Eagles did the RB committee - under Chip Kelly ? Did they do the same " committee " when Shady McCoy led the NFL in rushing under Chip ?
So why could not Murray,? .... who they signed to a lucrative contract.

Even with only 2 years, was there other TEs that belongs ahead of Ditka ? (most of his career in Chicago) ...

Was the George Andrie guy more flanker or TE ?

Didn't Alworth have his best career years with the Chargers ? If anything I'd have Tony Hill over an Alworth.
Everybody cannot make the top 5; someone has to be 6th or 7th, etc.

Andrie was a pass rusher and a good one. Alworth widely considered top 100 all time and definitely made an impact on the first SB winning team. Did it all speed, hands, acrobatic moves. Could argue better than everyone you listed.

Unpopular opinion BUT in their prime I would take Dorsett over Smith EVERY time.
