Starting Trey Lance right after dak went down would have ensured two things: we would have truly given him a shot and we would be drafting top ten at the last
That’s correct. You can try to win but still lose due to player evaluation.

The Cowboys won't ever tank. I'll never understand why some fans consistently call for them to tank over the years when they fall out of playoff contention. It simply won't happen. The Cowboys want a playing to win culture. There is no thought of winning or losing to improve or hurt their draft position.
Yes. But this is putting the team at a competitive disadvantage. The same people who complain about Jerry and Co are supporting Jerry’s attempt to finish at .500.

If you were coaching the Dallas Cowboys this year you KNOW that next season you would want to be picking 10th instead of 18th in each round.
Of course, but I'd be coaching for my job....I sure as hell wouldn't want to lose. That would be stupid..lose and leave my replacement a higher pick? LOL!

In Service they always stated forged in fire came out steel...not run away from Jerry, who pays me top end. This site also says Hell Mary.

Competitive disadvantage? Winning culture and not quitting is worth more than a few draft picks in the first round of the next draft.

Not to mention, the Cowboys could easily trade down that pick.

Just as a refresher, here are Jerry's picks between 11-17 since he bought the Cowboys:

Parsons
Lamb
Martin
Ware
Kevin Smith
Harper
Emmitt

Tell that to Trevon Diggs and Parsons......Funny how guys get paid around here and then quit playing.

Nobody calls it tanking, but when you shut down players that could be and should be playing.
It's tanking.
If we were in the playoff hunt CeeDee would be on the field.
Like I've said before, on Sunday I'm always rooting for a win but I will love sitting in the 10th position if that's possible.
I want "thee Dallas Cowboys " back.

Losers don't mind losing....why compete if you don't care. Bust your azz and let the chips fall where they may. Leave the losing to the pencil pushers and fans that think Jerry will turn it all around with a couple of extra loses. I guarantee, anyone on the field, that has busted his butt, played through injury and with pain, does not want to lose. Their livelihood is riding on playing well.
Tanker are losers....you can't argue that. And don't try to sell the take a step back to take two steps forward. Someone will slam that door shut when you step back.
Losers don't know how to win, especially when it comes to off-the-field maneuvering. Winning during a non-playoff season does nothing but keep the team relevant enough to keep the crowd still interested in filling out the home games, buying jerseys and merchandise while continuing to feed Jerry's ego and keep his pockets full. All winning while keeping the team average does is keep Jerry's business as the #1 richest sports business in the world, regardless of playoff success (or lack of it). Keep feeding those egos, but don't complain with the soon 30 years of accomplishing nothing. It's all about making money. Who cares about winning Super Bowls nowadays when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.

7 guys. That's it? In 35 years since Jerry has owned the Cowboys has drafting between 11-17 only accomplished 7 legit stud players?

That's pathetically low. I wouldn't be bragging about that.

I'm not sure what you expect them to do going forward. They already have a backup QB playing, and a bunch injured. The guys actually playing are going to try to win. We'll probably lose to the Eagles. Then beat Washington because in all likelihood they won't be playing any starters.

I would love it if the draft order for non playoff teams was random. That would end all tanking.

The Eagles have already secured that #2 seed in the playoffs. With Jalen Hurts not playing, they could rest certain starters to let them heal for the playoffs, thus increasing the Cowboys chances of pulling off an upset victory.

The Eagles could still lose the division to Washington. If they lose to us and Washington wins, the Eagles will have to play their starters against the Giants. I don't think they want to do that. That said, a lot of gamblers are using your line of thinking. Eagles opened up 9 point favorites. It's down to 7.5

Ahhh, you're right. I forgot the Eagles lost to the Commanders last week. This definitely forces the Eagles to have to win today in order to secure that #2 playoff seed which I incorrectly stated was already secured. Thanks for the correction. My mistake. I just wonder if not having Hurts available will cost them today against our Cowboys? Then again, we don't have CeeDee these last 2 games, so it all evens out (or might be a bigger advantage for our opponents).

I would love to beat them just to force them to play the Giants. But with CD out, it will be rough. Barkley is their offense. Force Kenny to beat us in the air. Unless it's 3rd and long, key on Barkley. Hurts can beat you, but can Kenny?

How many teams are really tanking though? The Browns and Giants are the only ones I think are legit tanking. Besides McCarthy has no job security so he has no incentive to tank.

I don't know, the Eagles are gonna try hard to sabotage the tank by sitting Hurts (sarc), and the Cowboys own the Commodes. I see Rush ending this season on a heater, Bro has been dealing Ls to foes.
I say stick with the hot hand

What is tanking ? Benching starters ? What . You sign a guy to a healthy contract then what you “ bench “ him ? How do you ask Micah Parsons to sit in the bench. Ask Rico Dowdle going for a 1000 yards he’s worked hard to take a seat for Elliott ?

And what do you tell the coaching staff without any contract left facing unemployment hey don’t try and win possibly stay unemployed .

I know one thing the culture in places like New York both Jets Giants the Bears Jacksonville the Raiders must really stink because no matter what they keep drafting high on the list .

Great note...and a small trade done will do a ton of work also.
