Admittedly, injuries have played their part in Crawford’s ineffectiveness. He has posted a total of 63 tackles and 9.5 sacks in his last two seasons.
Crawford's ineffectiveness can be pointed more to his injuries than being moved around. He's a seasons vet who knows his way around the DL. Just need him healthy.

Dallas Cowboys indecision hurting Tyrone Crawford’s effectiveness

...The one player the Cowboys have elected to continue swapping around on a whim is defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford. The 27-year old has taken the brunt of fan anger after signing a six-year, $45.6 contract in September of 2015 and seemingly underperforming ever since.

Admittedly, injuries have played their part in Crawford’s ineffectiveness. He has posted a total of 63 tackles and 9.5 sacks in his last two seasons. But the former third round selection out of Boise State in 2012 is being paid as a Top 20 defensive lineman in the NFL according to OverTheCap.com.

Crawford’s relative ineffectiveness can in part be blamed on the Cowboys coaching staff, as they continue to shuffle the young defender inside and out, along the defensive line. It’s a fact Crawford has now resigned himself to...

Haven't read through all the other posts yet...but this is what I have been saying for years....move these players around, and it detrimentally effects them. Maybe someone read one of my post and finally decided to write about it...LOL..
When was the last time they produced a player that excels at multiple positions on defense. How many times have players flamed out or was just mediocre because they did this. I guess some would say the player needs to be that talented first. But that is not the point.

Put a player at one position and let him learn, to the point it becomes natural and instinct. Keep moving him around, and he keeps on needing to think about getting it right as opposed to just reacting.

Exceptional guys can move around to a point. Crawford is not exceptional he is above average at best. Sometimes its better to be a good tackle than a jack of all trades and a master at none.

I been saying this for a long time now. The coaches need to listen to us....:D

IMO 100% is on Crawford for not proving where he belongs on the DL. Dude has had plenty of opportunities to show out on the crappy DL and if he was legit it would not have been difficult to take ownership of a position.

I think the contract was ridiculous and the fact that he sucks is why they're Moving him around so much
They moved him last year because he was the best overall LDE the team had, we all knew he could not rush the passer from the DE position when they switched back to the 4-3, they tried him at DE but he generates little pass rush from that position, he does not have quicks, explosiveness, or out and out speed to be a pass rusher from that position. He can defend the run all day from that position he is better 3T because he can work through the bodies better.

They moved him last year because they where down to nobody left to play LDE.

Exactly he was the best LDE option the team had. IT was unfortunate that he is a DT. Luckily Collins was super rookie otherwise god knows what would have happened.

Seems to me D.Irving flex's thru the same spots that Crawford does........LDE, 3 Tech, some a 1-tech on obvious passing downs, even some snaps at Rde............

are we slowing his development..........he actually seems effective as he flex's positions

I think that Crawford's need at the outside, just got a lot leaner.

say in your best Forrest Gump voice "Crawford is as Crawford does"

would love to see this guy get healthy and I don't blame him for the contract that Dallas gave him...I think they expected an awful lot from him (pun intended) and with no one around him + injuries, he has not performed well...I want to see him healthy and working in this DLine with some of the kids - then I will judge
