News: Dallas Cowboys need upgrades at head coach and quarterback

It doesn’t really matter. Jerry even flushed his best chance to overcome his stink on this franchise.

Retiring was Parcells' call, not Jones'. If Big Bill ever coached somewhere else, you'd have a point, but he didn't. He himself said he was done with the grind of coaching.

That fact can't be twisted into yet something else to pin on Jones.

Believe what you will but the more I hear from you the more I realize you don’t hold Jerry accountable for football operations.

And Bill was already retired when he came here and went on to become VP at Miami after leaving here.

The thought you don’t believe Jerry’s meddling influenced Bills decision is very naive. Awful suspect.

Only in the fact that he was ever gifted a job he never deserved and was never qualified for.

You can't ruin something that was never good to begin with.
We really don’t know what Jason could be in a normal situation. I do agree he wasn’t qualified which is another beautiful example of the dysfunction.

We do know that others this era haven’t fared much better and they were more qualified coming in.

It is lame duck season and I think that should include JG. I've never liked seeing a head coach get fired midseason but he needs to be put on notice that short of a miracle finish, his tenure with this team is quickly coming to an end.

Apparently, you "believe what you want" all the time. Like falsely believing Garrett could ever be a real head coach. A hell of a hill for your credibility to die on.

I certainly "hold Jerry accountable" for hiring an unqualified clown to be his head coach, and then keeping said clown for 9 years. That's incompetence at its finest right there. It doesn't get much worse than that mistake.

When was he ever a head coach again after he left Dallas? Let me know and you'll have an actual point.

The fact that you'll go tinfoil hat with an invented conspiracy in yet another attempt to bash Jones shows me how far your Jerry fixation goes. And I'll trust Parcells own words about what happened over yours.

There's are plenty of valid criticisms to have for Jerry Jones without having to stoop to inventing stuff. Oh, am I not holding Jerry Jones accountable again?

And we never will. Jerry's vanity project will never see another NFL head coaching job again. As he never should have to begin with.

On this we are in total agreement.

We do know that others this era haven’t fared much better and they were more qualified coming in.

Actually, several have, and I love how you try to throw that ambiguous "this era" qualifier in there in some vain justification effort, don't think that effort goes unnoticed. We can go to the win-loss records for that. And virtually every one of them did a better job given the talent and circumstances that they had. This is a turd you can't polish.

You continue to misconstrue my support of Garrett as an endorsement he’s a good HC.

Most everyone read between the lines why Bill left here early. And going to Miami to be VP is not how I’d define retiring.

I can't help but to wonder what might happen if the Cowboys get embarrassed by the Eagles in prime time Sunday Night in front of the world. It was the tipping point for Jones with Wade Phillips years ago and I can't help but to wonder if history could repeat itself? Likely not at head coach, since Jones doesn't have an interim on the staff that he's likely comfortable with. But I wonder if someone, likely Linehan, wouldn't have to pay for it?

Any support for Garrett is misconstrued, and misguided. Garrett's results don't deserve any support. And that has nothing to do with Jerry Jones and his own faults and failings. One does not absolve the other.

He retired from being an NFL head coach, in Dallas and everywhere else. I think you realize that and are trying to be intentionally vague here.

If you want to make the case that the time and energy demands of being an executive are the same as being an NFL head coach, the floor is yours. Or maybe you should ask Parcells himself that question?

I think it’s very likely Linehan will be the scapegoat. It’s just yet to be seen when that will be.

We know 4-12 wasn’t enough to fire Garrett. I’ve always maintained Garrett has survived because we haven’t collapsed . But if we do Jerry will prob have to act. We’ll see.

I’m not sure anymore if anyone is safe as long as Jerry is intent on Dak.

After another embarrassing effort offensively, hard questions must be answered regarding key components towards the future success of the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s been eleven plus years since the Dallas Cowboys had a real head coach roam the sidelines. To this day, one of the most popular idioms Bill Parcells ever spoke reigns true.

You are what you are. The Dallas Cowboys are what they are. One last time, for those in the back row … The Dallas Cowboys are what they are!

This team masquerades as a good team only to reveal their true identity when things matter the most. You can blame the players but you’d be fooling yourself. The reason this team constantly underachieves is because of what remains the same.

Jerry Jones is an incompetent owner. Jason Garrett is the butt of every joke when it comes to head coaching. Scott Linehan isn’t qualified to run your child’s Pee Wee football or flag football squad, let alone a pro football team’s offense...
O rly?

If it was truly Parcells health it makes no sense he would have taken on any type of position.

Again it sounds either naive or it doesn’t fit your narrative why Bill left here early.

My money is on the next embarrassing, high-profile loss. Which I fully expect to occur on Sunday Night. If Marcus Mariota and the Titans can do that to this team, it's truly scary to think what the Super Bowl Champions will do. On prime time, with a golden opportunity to seize the division while sending a rival plummeting further into disarray. The Eagles are salivating I've this game, and rightfully so. They can put us out of both ours and their misery.

Not having Romo there was a huge mitigating factor for Jones, and I think anyone could see why. And what were they? 12-4 the season before? I think most anyone could see how and why Garrett got a mulligan then.

I’m not sure anymore if anyone is safe as long as Jerry is intent on Dak.

If his actions back up his words? I agree with you. But not until then.

Take it up with Bill Parcells. You go tell him he's been lying to everyone.

This has gone past the point of being ridiculous.

We can only hope.

We agree on some fronts.

I’m not sure a loss to Egirls qualifies as an embarrassing loss.

Titans was a bad loss in a game we were favored to win at home. But in Philly... even if we were playing well we wouldn’t be expected to win.
