As near as I can tell from past lists the Cowboys have had 47 total QBs. Some of these jaybirds never took a snap so there is no true way to really judge them. I tried to be fair. Feel free to disagree.

Are these a subjective analysis or based on some statistics?

Quincy, Jason Garrett, Vinny and Wade Wilson are all better than Babe imo.

My lasting memory of Babe was plaing horrendously at the end of 1990 and basically costing the Cowboys a playoff spot. In fact his performances were eerily similar to the ones we're seeing currently from "Checkdown."

Danny White> Tony Romo until he wins a few playoff games.
I'd agree with that. I think Danny White won 5 playoff games. Of course he lost some big ones too.

White > Romo (Regular season stats are nice, but ....)

Morton > LeBaron (Eddie was a better passer and was saddled with some dreadful teams, but Morton was instrumental in many championship or near-championship seasons).

Carano > Quinn (Unlike Quinn, Carano actually got on the field. He won the '81 Thanksgiving game for us when White was knocked out).

Interesting list Hos. Some of those names are a real blast from the past!

I never liked Craig Morton as a QB, great person but I felt like he held the team back and cost us some big games in 1969 & 1970.

Meredith was a great QB who played on some pretty bad teams in the early 60s. His numbers went way up at the end of his career. Unfortunately, the way he went out was horrible. That game against the Browns was one of the worst of his career and came at the worst possible time.

I still believe Carter was a better QB than people gave him credit for. He was very inconsistent but at times had some good games.

Not sure why you list Jerry Rhome so high considering he barely played for us. In 4 years with the Cowboys he attempted only 75 passes completing only 39 of them with 1 TD and 3 INTs. It's not like he tore it up with the Rams, Browns, or Oilers either playing one year for each team and the only time he started more than 2 games was with the Oilers in 1970 but they sucked and he stunk right along with them.

I liked Beuerlein & Kosar as backups.

And Troy is numero uno. JMO :)

I'd have to agree with you. I got interrupted while posting my response and forgot to include my comments on Babe, who sucked terribly.

Tony Banks does not make that list because he was so bad that he could not beat out a very raw rookie and was cut before the season started. How bad is that?

maybe the better way to list them is like this...

the team wins/won because of <blank> (Romo for example)

the team won inspite of <blank> (Bledsoe for example)

The team lost because of <blank> (Hugh Millen for example)

and the last catagory is

the team has/had no idea who you were (Loren Snyder for example)

Hard to believe LeBaron could have been better than Craig Morton. Morton was the starter in 70 (SB) and 72 (10-4) and partially for the 1st half of 71 (champs).

Also where is Jack Concannon?

I still think Q was a better Cowboy QB than Bledsoe or Vinny, easily. I'd go with:

Staubach
Aikman
Romo
White
Meredith
LeBaron
BEURLEIN
Carter
Kosar
Bledsoe/Garrett

as my top 10 Cowboy QB's- for impactful performances/wins/quality of play as prerequisites
