Who would take Quincy as our backup to Romo now? Like when QC was starting for us...

I think he would have make a pretty good backup if he didnt crash and burn with the drugs..

As near as I can tell from past lists the Cowboys have had 47 total QBs. Some of these jaybirds never took a snap so there is no true way to really judge them. I tried to be fair. Feel free to disagree.

Sorry Hos. Until Romo wins an NFC Championship Game, or gets the Cowboys to 4 straight NFC Tile games, he cannot not be listed higher than Danny White. As everyone was fond of telling me while I was growing up, stats don't mean crap.

1. Staubach
2. Aikman
3. Meredith
4. White
5. Romo

Putting Babe at #17 was nice of you, although I am not so sure he should not have been somewhere around #48.
Outside of that, the list looks pretty good :starspin

It was nice that Danny won some playoff games but at the end of the day he still didn't take Dallas anywhere. He was good enough to lose us 3 straight NFC Championship games. No offense but that isn't exactly awe inspiring. It just means he gave us the right to have our hearts broke a week later than some other fans had theirs broke.

Unless you at least get the Superbowl I don't really see a huge difference between losing in the divisional round and losing in the NFC Championship game.

I agree...if we win #6 with him he could easily be #1

Aikman has 3 rings, Romo won't pass him in my book even if he wins #6.

IF Romo wins #6...

1. Staubach
2. Aikman
3. Romo

Now IF Romo wins #7 :D he would go to #2, MAYBE #1...

Great list and research, Hos.

Romo hasn't started near as long as Danny White, but there's no doubt in my mind that Romo is the better player.

Only changes I would make is to bump Morton up above LeBaron and move Babe down a few spots.

As QB for the Cowboys compared to the league average:

I really dig this post. Very cool. This is proof that Staubach was VERY VERY good. I didn't get to see him play, but these stats are undeniable.

I actually considered both of those moves. Babe is higher than he should be because I like him as an announcer. :D He actually needs to be around #28 to #32 area.

I never liked Morton because I was a Staubach guy, and in Super Bowl V he gave away the game, but there's no doubt you are correct and he should be above LeBaron.

Staubach has 2 rings...12-6 playoff record (.667%)

Aikman has 3 rings (THREE)...it is all about SB Rings & playoff record....11-5 (.688%) in the postseason for Aikman.

Romo 0-2. Just in case you don't know that is .000%.

I don't give a rat's *** if Romo has single season records. He has a long way to catch the 2 greatest Dallas QBs.

Are you even old enough to remember watching Aikman, let alone Staubach?

I think Bernie Kosar had more of an impact here that one year than Bledsoe ever did, as much as I love both quarterbacks.

I'd also put Hutch over Henson, considering he actually started 9 games for us.

That statement alone shows how little you understand football. Did you even see the three title games? Aparently not. Danny was hurt and out of the Washington game by half time. But the Cowboys were the right at the door of the SB and that is more than Romo can claim. But, using your logic, all Romo has been good enough to do is lose two first round playoff games.
Must mean you don't think any more for Tony or Don Meredith, for that matter, than you do White.

Thanks for playing :)

Not hardly. Romo is good, but like so many of you in here, no one will give White his due. Danny was a damn good quarterback, like it or not. I wonder how many in here even watched Danny play. There are a few, but I suspect most did not.
But let's really get this going, who is better Romo or Meredith?:starspin

Some interesting stats comparisons:

Player------Record--W/L%--TD%---INT%---Rating
Meredith----48-33---56.5%---5.8%---4.8%----74.8
Staubach---85-29---74.6%---5.2%---3.7%----83.4
White-------62-30---67.4%---5.3%---4.5%----81.7
Aikman------94-71---57.0%---3.5%---3.0%----81.6
Romo--------19-7---73.1%---6.5%---3.5%----97.8

Romo's winning % is 2nd only to Roger's.
His TD% is considerably higher than anyone's.
His INT% is 2nd only to Aikman's.
His QB Rating is the the highest in NFL history! And WAY higher than any other Cowboys QB.

Everyone throws out there that he has yet to win a playoff game but that is not the only measure of a QB and speaks more to our lack of a dominating defense (something the others all enjoyed BTW) than to his abilities.

Just sayin 'zall...

fun stuff, hos. thanks.

i'd probably flip-flop morton and lebaron. craig probably did more for the franchise IMHO. i will admit that lebaron does not make most lists like this which is a shame. he is woefully underrated.

Romo also plays in an era that is kind to offenses and in particular QBs. I am not putting him down and think it is just a matter of time before he starts winning playoff games. I am just saying.

Staubach had a 5.2% TD percentage at a time when the league average was 4.2%. Staubach was 23.8% better than the league average.

Staubach had a 3.7% INT percentage at a time when the league average was 5.2%. Staubach was 40.5% better than the league average.

Aikman had a 3.5% TD percentage at a time when the league average was 3.9%. Aikman was 10.9%% worse than the league average. That is because Irvin always fell down at the 1 yard line.:D

Aikman had a 3.0% INT percentage at a time when the league average was 3.4%. Aikman was 13.3% better than the league average.
