That's not how Cowboys fans think. If you were drafting for the Cheifs you would've passed on Mahomes because you would think Alex Smith is the better QB.

Us Cowboys fans that want to roll the dice on finding another QB know that the odds are low of getting that next franchise QB but your thinking is hitting a home run without swinging the bat.
You fail to understand that Dak is right now the best he will ever be and unless we get an 85 Bears defense we have no shot.
:thumbup:one hundred percent agree.

But that's not how it is.

There has been 66 quarterbacks drafted in the 1st round since 2000. Out of that 66.....there was one Mahomes. If you want to talk about Rodgers....there's 2. Mahomes and Rodgers. Straight generational talents. The odds of you getting one are slim to none. And mind you, these guys weren't the 1st overall picks. They weren't even the first quarterbacks taken.

Hell out of those 66 taken? Not even a 10th of them are as good as Dak is.

You are right. You can't get a Mahomes if you never swing for the fence. 100 percent right. But you also shouldn't hurt your team being naive and trying to search for something that isn't there and won't be.

And the Chiefs scouting department went and got Mahomes. Andy Reid did that. It was never about finding someone better than Alex Smith is was finding someone who would better be suited to run Andy Reid's offense.

Failed logic.
This reasoning will never get you a franchise QB.
The greatest way to hurt your team is not making an all out effort in getting one.

What is failed about it? Is the objective to win a SB or get a franchise QB? Or a generational talent like Mahomes? Because regardless of how you feel about Dak he is a franchise QB. But the argument was about QB's the caliber of MAhomes wasn't it?

Ya because they are so good at it?Stephen McGhee and Ben Denucci say hi

The fact is the cowboy organization haven’t drafted in a spot to draft a top QB for awhile and they wasted that on a RB

They are not a risky organization and truth be told finding a franchise qb isn’t easy

The Patrick Mahomes of the world isn’t easy to find

I honestly don’t care who starts at qb next year but I’m glad we have Prescott instead of Daniel Jones who was taken high in the draft
Well...not interested in continually dredging up Mahomes. However...did the Chiefs know what they had when they drafted him? I'd think not.

And how successful were the Chiefs drafting a QB BEFORE him?

How about even Tom Brady? Did they know what they had when they drafted him? Of course not.

You have to draft them and see.

As fas as Jones, goes, I haven;t watched much of Giants, like one game...and I don't know what kind of team he has.

Eli Manning won 2 rings "carried" by a defense that wasn't the best at ANYTHING in the league other than maybe getting to the quarterback.
So you believe Eli and the jags around him just lucked in to the SBs. That’s par for the course you just hopping Dak and the guys luck into a SB, that must be Jerry’s thinking the last 28 years.

If you check you will see the giant’s D played great both those years in the playoffs.

I remember like it was yesterday. The Giants defense was ranked 13th in 2012.....far from this "generational" defense y'all keep panting them out to be. Now they played great in the playoffs but that's kind of the point. Step up when the lights get bright. Something the Cowboys and Romo never did and something the Giants and Eli managed to do.

Where did I say they lucked into it? I'm actually saying the opposite lol. You don't "luck" into two rings I know a lot of Romo fans want us to think that but no. Not how it works.

Romo fans, the old stand bye for Dak apologists, you do know he hasn’t played in 8 years. You’re confident Dak is the one and only answer and that somehow come crunch time they are going to all get it together and bingo it’s SB time. Luck and wishing on a star is your plan, I think that’s Jerry’s too. Good luck with that and we will see how that strategy plays out in December and January.

Nah.. The rookie contract is what gives you such a great chance at winning.

Kirk Cousins and Daks are almost impossible to win a title with.
I disagree. Look at KC, Mahomes isn't on a rookie deal but yet they continue to win..... Even after letting Hill go.

Takes coaching and players.

Granted Mahomes is the best QB in the league but we can stop with the money thing is the reason.

Actually the chiefs have been sucsseful since Andy Reid went there prior to Mahomes.
However he put them over the top . He is however the exception not the rule

It’s hard finding THAT guy. They won’t he in the running for Caleb or Drake next year

They have had larger needs to address lately maybe this year they draft a qb

I just said luck isn’t my plan did you just look over that? I’m not confident in anyone winning a SB other than Mahomes. I sure as hell am not confident in Dak winning one.

Romo is relevant in this discussion because we are talking about Eli…..man smh.

Mahomes is great but he was hurt in that SB. He wasn’t the Mahomes we know. Much closer the level of guys like Josh Allen in that SB.

I agree...Mahomes is the "exception"....but you are STILL ignoring my point. You doing this on purpose?

Chiefs did not know Mahomes would be successful. Patriot's didn't know Brady would be successful

MY POINT...you have to draft them FIRST and see.

If you do not draft...then you deserve what you get. Like us.

Wait...matt cassel? Don't we HATE him ? He sure got made fun of hard here.

Brodie Croyle?
Damon Huard?

Even Alex Smith? I thought he sucks.

Trent Green
Elvis Grbac.

Come on man....judge them the same way you judge Romo.

Romo got to the SB? He’s totally irrelevant, you were talking about SB QBs not anyone else. At least we agree on Dak getting to one let alone winning one.

If Lance is lucky he might finally find a starting job in the USFL..
it is to bad that the nfl and the other leagues can not work together and let backup qbs a chance to play in the off season. maybe get a chance to actually play in real games to improve and maybe become starters in the nfl.
