The amount of hand wringing over a 31 year old CB that was cut from a god awful defense, whose team LOST cap space with his release is astonishing. But then again, there was a thread wanting to trade for Kirkpatrick so nothing surprises me at this point.

The more I read stuff like this, the more I understand that most of the online articles written these days are just done by fans who like to talk about football and have as much expertise in football as my wife.

What makes it worse is that they write every cock-eyed theory or idea that they can come up with and half of the NFL fan base either takes it as gospel or thinks it is a swell idea.

You don't have to be a genius to have a pretty good idea of what the Cowboys will or will not do. Honestly. Just pay some attention to the team's methods and the direction they're going with talent acquisition, and you can have a very good idea of what they will do going forward.

If someone does pay attention to what Dallas has been doing and then they still think that the team will bring in a guy like Jennings, then I don't know what to tell them. If that person doesn't think that Dallas will actually sign Jennings but says that the team is wrong for not doing so, that is fine... but don't act surprised when people roll their eyes and say "ok" when they hear it.

I wish I could give you a dozen likes for this. People complained for years wanting the team to do what it is now, and now complain about the "egos" or other nonsense. I'm convinced people just like to complain.

The more I read on football message boards, the more I come to realize just how much people really do like to complain. Kind of like I'm complaining now about them complaining.

Seriously though... people do love to complain.

Im talking as a whole not just with this JAG....

We have taken a "let the young bucks play" attitude as if were the Bucs or Jags... These next 2/3 years is our window...

Unless you have forgotten this is a QB league and it took us half a decade after Aikman to find someone else to get it together...

Seattle and New England had two of the youngest teams last year.

Dallas Cowboys Should Kick the Tires On Tim Jennings
By Jason Fletcher

I wrote earlier today about the impact losing top corner Orlando Scandrick will have on the Dallas Cowboys‘ playoff chances. Without him, the defensive secondary lacks the depth necessary to compete against the high-flying offenses in the NFC East. It puts a tremendous amount of pressure on Morris Claiborne and Byron Jones to perform at an extremely high level, which could be too much for the young guys.

On Sunday afternoon, there were a number of NFL teams who got an early jump on the first round of cuts. By Tuesday, every team in the NFL has to be down to a 75-man roster, and instead of making certain players wait an extra two days to find out their fate, teams are giving them an opportunity to find work elsewhere quicker.

One of the most surprising cuts on Sunday was cornerback Tim Jennings, who was axed by the Chicago Bears after spending the last five years with the team. During those five seasons, Jennings intercepted 16 passes and forced six fumbles, but last season he didn’t have any interceptions and only one forced fumble. With the Bears running a 3-4 defense now under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, scheme fit was also a likely cause for his release.

Although I’m sure Jennings will have his choice of teams to play for, he would make the most sense for the Cowboys. Not only will he help with the depth at corner, but he also played three seasons in Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli‘s system while Marinelli was the defensive coordinator in Chicago from 2010 to 2012. During those three seasons, Jennings accumulated 12 interceptions in only 46 games...

I wonder why he was among the first cuts of the Bears?

Jones and White are off the field now anyway. Neither is starting at CB and neither is the starting nickel back. Jones is actually seeing more time at S because of Wilcox.

Jones has a specific role, so he'll be on the field. They seem to want him to line up over TEs in 3+ wide receiver sets.

Chicago decided that Alan Ball was better than Jennings. I suffered through the Alan Ball years at Dallas. That's all I need to know about Jennings.

Fair enough but it seems like the new trend I'm noticing in the NFL is for new coaching regimes to cut veteran leadership.

Rod should know all about him, if he is any good Rod will bring him on board.
