Dallas Cowboys trivia thread

Ike Thomas! 1971.
Congrats!!!!

Yeah, the only reason I remember this is because when I was a kid, I wrote an English paper on the 1971 Dallas Cowboys.

They had just won the Super Bowl.

I don't know why I still remember that paper, but I had written something about the unexpected contribution of Ike Thomas, and it just stuck with me...

That one kicked my butt. Every answer someone else gave had me convinced they had it. Then I had 2 guesses. Whew.

Name 4 Cowboys offensive players in the mid 90s with the last name "Williams".

How long was Deion's 1st career rushing TD? What team did it come against?

Nicely done. Figured most people would've forgotten ol' Stepfret.

I wonder if it was his run (as a Cowboy) vs. the Eagles in the playoffs?

If so, it wasn't an especially long run (maybe less than 15 yards) - but it broke the game open.

WOW! Now that is some good research. Nice find by the way.

I bookmarked that site.

So in answer to your initial trivia question, whever answered the "Giants" was correct as that was the NFL team that Landry joined (which was specified in your question).

Ron Fellow's nickname? It was the same as the last name of a famous basketball player from Indiana.

You're right, it was vs. Philly in the playoffs... 21 yarder for #21.

Well CRAP! It sux that I just stumbled across this thread now. I would have loved to have been a participant at the very beginning.

Hey Hostile, lurker or whomever else. Why don't we set up a chat to do Cowboys/NFL trivia live. Those are always the most fun. Let me know if interested, and I can lay out the rules. They are very basic and designed to make the game go smoothly.

I'm in, just let me know a time. I'm available pretty much any evening of the week.

Oh, I totally screwed that up. It should have read "Pro Football Team" rather then NFL.

Having said that, did you read all of that? Honestly, I've read it 4 times and I'm still not certain I completely understand what happened. :laugh2:

You bet and we gotta invite some of these other guys. These are great questions. One of the best we've had Dan.

Invite everyone. This thread was so cool, I think that the time is ripe for a good trivia chat. We just need to know the availability of those that are interested.

I'll make a post later this evening outlining the rules and all. Then in there we can put our heads together and agree on a time. Hopefull no later than early next week.

How bout a Cowboy who returned 2 punts for TD's in the same game?

I honestly couldn't tell ya who Coach Landry actually played for in his first year of Pro Ball. I think I have it figured out and then it gets confusing all over again. Either way, it was good to talk about a bit of the history. I never get tired of talking about Coach Landry.

Something else I ran across that I thougth was interesting while researching this. I ran across Bobby Lanes name in that 49 Bulldog team. Apparently, he was the starting QB for them. I had no idea.
