Dallas Cowboys vs. New Jersey Giants:
http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/105215
The Giants beat up on an aging, slow, and complacent Buccaneer defense on Sunday. It was really disappointing to watch Bucs first rounder Gaines Adams tire out after the first half. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw made that team tick, bashing the Bucs easily. It won't happen here though. Not if Roy Williams has anything to say about it. The last time these two teams played, I said that Jeremy Shockey would be the X-factor, and he was great, but they still lost. Now, he's not playing, leaving Eli Manning with Kevin Boss and the fullbacks as his safety blanket against the Dallas corners. Terrance Newman is the best corner in the league, with speed to keep up with almost everyone and the strength and jumping ability to muscle big guys like Plaxico Burress for positioning. The Dallas defense is a really hard hitting one, but their secondary, outside of Newman, is not that quick. Luckily, neither is the Giants receiving core. Amani Toomer and Steve Smith are possession guys and Smith, despite his physical gifts, is always looking for the ball too soon, which will tip off Anthony Henry, who is the smartest corner in the league. He was hurt early this season, but a bye week will give him time to figure out how to read Smith's tells and how to best disrupt Toomer. Expect Eli Manning to look more like Peyton did against the Chargers, or like Brett Favre did a few years ago against the Rams. This Cowboys team matches up perfectly against them, and I don't care if they haven't played a meaningful game in a month, they're still just that much better.
When Dallas is on offense, just close your eyes. I'll tell you right now that Terry Glenn and Patrick Clayton alone could outplay this defensive backfield, but with Terrell Owens (he'll play, especially because Moss is playing this weekend in the spotlight) and Jason Witten, the best TE in the league, Romo could throw for 400 yards. Romo has great manuverability in the pocket too. He can't feel pressure like Brady or shake hits as well as Rothlisberger, but he can scramble without taking his eyes off the defensive backfield, and that will help him make a ton of plays. Rotating Julius Jones and Marion Barber III will tire out the pass rush and Romo will really be able to go to work on them.
Probability of an upset: 10% If Owens doesn't play and if the Giants are able to run the ball for 175-200 yards, then they could come close, but I can see Romo determined to make everyone forget last year's playoffs and take the Cowboys back to glory.
