No, what really happened is this. Len Pasquerelli was at lunch with some coworkers. After devouring the sixth plate full of food, the guy across from him said, "Geez, I thought you were about to eat the frickin BONES!"

Len thought he said we were trading Julius JONES.

Hence, the rumor. Glad to help.

Also, I don't really like any of our running back to pass block, but if I had to choose one it would be JJ; he picks up the rush SOMETIMES at least.

Yeah cuz we wouldn't want our QB to have that extra second or two to throw the football.

And MB3 is EASILY the best pass blocking RB we have.

Hey guys, just trying to keep people informed. I am not sure whether or not this is going to happen or not. Time will tell, I guess.

If there is any merit to this and I really don't know, Who and what do you think we can get for Juluis Jones? I think Tenneesee, GreenBay and Cleveland COULD be interested because each team could use a veteran.

Here is the headline from ESPN, Scott Engel,

Dallas Dealing?
Scott Engel's Offseason Notebook examines possible deals involving Julius Jones, Trent Green and others.

Take it for what it is worth. I am not here to cause an issue. That is not what I am about. I enjoy talkin' Cowboys and that's the bottom line.

Non need to apologize. Thanks for the article.

I'd be very surprised if the Cowboys were to trade Julius Jones before they very sure MBIII can carry them to the playoffs. We've also got no viable RB behind Barber. Thompson has great straight ahead speed but has shown nothing more in 2 years; he's also a liability in blocking when he's in the backfield.

I do like the FA RB's they got though...

The problem with this blurb is that it's old news. Lenny P hasn't written anything like this in 2-3 weeks...

Sometimes when trying to share news, it is best to also note the relevance of it as well as the date it was written. It's what I do to try to keep from re-posting stuff that was written or posted a long time ago.

Turner is the only guy out there that is someone we would go after. No way do we pay the price that the Chargers are asking- or even close to it. We trade JJ and we HAVE to get someone to take his place. And it is NOT one of the UDFA's we just got or anyone else laying around right now. NOW in training camp if some team has an injury then they might come calling since they know that JJ is cheaper then Turner and more proven at being able to take a heavier load. BUT once again we HAVE to replace him. I really doubt that Wade wants to take a chance on a UDFA or Thompson to back up MB3, assuming that Wade thinks that MB3 can take the full load. And when it comes right down to it- wade appears to be a guy who is more in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it unless you are sure you can get a big upgrade." Also, too many people are hung up on the contract status- JJ is a UFA next year if not extended this year. So what? you get that all the time. The NFL is by and large a year to year thing for most teams except in regards to the Superstars and really high value players.

I still say there isn't a need to trade Julius. If we do, we would then need another RB. Makes no sense to me.

I agree, other than him we don't have a back on this roster who has shown that they can handle the load as a #1.

I'm not sold that MBIII can do that, and I hate the idea of Tyson Thompson as our number 2.

Even at this point, I'd trade JJ for 2nd round pick from an average to below average team.

WE have MBIII, Tyson Thompson, and our FA guys, not to mention others who will become available later as backups.

It's a little risky at this point in the offseason, but if someone were to offer a 2nd round pick, and knowing that this is likely to be JJ's last season in Dallas anyway, I'd grab that #2 and run.

This is on the ESPN insider dated May 4th and it will be interesting to see the comments on this.

Here's a fantasy-style roundup of recent NFL news and happenings that have been related to or overshadowed by the 2007 NFL draft.

The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that the Chargers have ended all trade talks regarding Michael Turner. "It's over," Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said. "I didn't want to be fooling around with this until October."

The Titans and Packers are two teams that still don't have ideal situations at running back. The Chargers reportedly received offers of first-round picks for Turner, but wanted more. It's not out of the question that a better offer could not pry Turner away from the Chargers before the season starts. If Tennessee and Green Bay can't make a serious play for Turner again this year, both teams certainly could acquire another veteran running back to bolster their running back situations. The Titans are especially shaky at running back right now. They certainly can't be comfortable with having LenDale White and rookie Chris Henry as their top two at the position right now. For now, however, there won't be as much speculation about Turner getting moved and becoming a quality fantasy starter. Fantasy owners can hold out hope Turner is moved, because no matter what team officials say publicly regarding Turner, anything can happen at any time. Turner is worth a late-round gamble in yearly fantasy leagues, and since he will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2007 season, he has considerable longer-term appeal in keeper and dynasty leagues

• ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reported that there has been talk that a few teams have contacted the Cowboys regarding the availability of Julius Jones. There have been rumblings that some team officials think Marion Barber III is ready to assume a larger role. Jones has been surrounded by trade rumors at various times during the off season. Barber certainly would become a more highly-regarded fantasy player if Jones is dealt, and many owners already consider him a quality No. 2 fantasy running back. Jones could benefit from a new start with a team that could give him a larger role again.

For everyone who wants to trade JJ for a draft pick, consider how comfortable you waould be realying on MBIII and whoever to carry us through the season.

T-Ham looked real good as Emmitt's back-up until he had to step out on his own.

I'm not saying that MBIII can't be a decent #1, but if he gets injured, we could probably write the season off.

That's a pretty definitive statement there Len. Sounds like the typical credible source that ESPN comes up with.

Well then I'll say it. Marion Barber can't be a #1 RB in the NFL. He lacks the breakaway speed to be a threat. He works very nicely in the role we have used him in on 3rd downs and short yardage but would be much less effective as a feature back.

Why do people continue to want to get rid of Jones, especially for a guy with very limited experience in Turner? I believe all of those people will change their tune after this season.

Some of you complain about JJ running in to piles but want TT to be our primary backup? :laugh2:

TT is Hambrick with speed.

Barber is faster than Emmitt was, Barber has enough speed to break longer runs but like any back needs opportunities also I don't see Jones speed being much of a factor when he can't seem to find the hole or break a tackle. I'm not looking to get rid of Jones but I do think the RB job should be up for competition because frankly Jones has not done anything to have it just handed to him.

I don't know if Barber could be an every down back so I wouldn't want to trade Jones but at the same time what might Green Bay or the Titans offer.

San Diego was widely reported in the media as receiving offers of a 1st round for Turner but wanted far more than that for him. Personally, I think they should have grabbed it but they didn't.

What if Green Bay or Tennessee offered a 1st round come training camp for Jones or a 2nd and 3rd for him? Would you take it? Would Jerry take it?

I can't even begin to think what Jerry would do but the thought of possibly having 3 1st round picks next year is a bit mindboggling.

Can Barber handle the full load or with Thompson and/or maybe Battle and/or Coleman? All questions that will be answered in training camp.

I would worry if we did trade Julius but again I don't think he is a Cowboy after this year anyway.

LOL, Dallas would be stupid to trade Julius Jones, I mean Marion Barber III is not a threat like J. Jones... People tend to forget, teams generally stack the box to stop Julius, they know he's a dynamic open field runner. Marion Barber III does not scare anyone. He's a good short yardage back and a surprise runner meaning, on third and 6 you give him the ball and catch teams off balanced.

I wonder it all that talk about the Chargers being offered a first only for Turner is just that- talk. Really- if they were offered that they could have made some real moves in the draft. And if it was a 2008 First, then they would have been NUTS to turn it down.
