I have a friend who is a Dolphins fan that insists before the start of training camp this season, Ricky Williams will be a Cowboy. I don't know where he gets it.

I told this forum right before the Draft that Buffalo asked what Julius would cost.

Buffalo drafted Marshawn Lynch and won't be trading for Julius. I highly doubt any team has contacted Dallas since then about him. He'll be here in 2007 barring something unforseen happening.

Maybe or maybe not. Since we have become such good friends with the Browns lately, I would think they might give us a call. They have absolutely nothing after Jamal Lewis, and what are the chances he goes all year without getting hurt.

Of course, do we really want to help them out short term.....

Maybe it's me, but I hate the idea of creating a hole where there isn't one. Sure there are better backs than the Julius/Barber combo. But the idea of trading Julius and going into the season with Barber, Thompson and whatever FA RB they can pick up off the scrap heap, just makes me cringe.

There are teams that I think do need RB help.

Browns
Packers
Texans
Steelers

I also think the Titans, Broncos and Giants could come calling once they realize their RB situation is tenuous.

Who replaces JJ on our depth chart in 2007 if we deal him? That is the huge flaw in the ointment. Those other teams can all go after Michael Turner (Tennessee already tried to) as far as I am concerned. I hear he's the real deal while Julius isn't despite all evidence to the contrary.

I just don't see where the idea Julius has a one way ticket out of town has any merit unless the deal is simply too good to pass up.

Oh, and I doubt we help the Browns any more this year. Maybe after we have selected their #1 pick we will, but for now, we're not going to assist them with RB woes.

I completely agree. People forget teams game plan for Julius Jones has the primary back..

I'm not against starting Barber. He actually appears to me to be a lot like Ricky Williams. He gets stronger the more he carries the ball. With Jones here, we may never get to see just how strong. I don't buy into his so called lack of speed. He is just as fast as backs like Jamal Lewis, Jerome Bettis, Duce McAllister, and others. Don't give me the Jones and his ability to break away. He broke away only once all season. I think Barber could manage at least one 60 yard run. By the way, Barber was clock after his senior year on campus running a 4.48 40, so......

I say, if we trade Jones, give Barber the shot at being our feature back, and bring in a guy that can spell him occasionally. Not half and half like it is now. A guy like Cory Dillon is out there and would not be too much.

The Miami Herald ran a story that said if Ricky Williams is reinstated that he won't be a Dolphin, that Miami would release him.

Now would Jerry take a chance on Ricky, I don't know but one thing that isn't a secret is that Ricky and Bum Phillips are friends and that Ricky actually called Bum for advise. Take it for what it is worth.

For those who say we would never trade Julius, just never say never especially when Jerry is around.

If teams are calling, I'm sure Jerry is waiting for the best offer or else we keep Julius, you know something like what he did in the draft. It would not surprise me in the least to see Julius traded to Green Bay for at least a second and if GB actually believes that they have a chance in Farve's last year even a first. The more like situation is a team who needs a RB that believes they have an actual shot at the playoffs, say Baltimore or Tennessee and maybe even New England if Maroney isn't healthy.

I don't expect to see Jones in a 2008 Dallas uniform but I do in 2007 unless Jerry really likes what they are offering. As to Barber, does anyone really know if he could carry a full load? No. Is it possible that we sign Ricky if released? Yes. Do I expect to see Julius with the Cowboys in 2007? Sort of hope so.

The idea of Ricky Williams as a Cowboy is out there already.

I would be very happy with the combination of Barber and Williams and let Jones be traded.

Now people would rather Ricky Williams over JJ?

Whats going on, this is like the twilight zone.

Do we just automatically forget what Ricky Williams did and how he treated the Dolphins when he was in the league?

The guy is a time bomb waiting to go off... who knows when he will just pick up and back pack through Europe.
