The more I look at this, Dallas should be drafting RB in 1st or 2nd round. It has dual functionality to it. Let me explain:

1) Will real DeMarco Murray please stand up - none of us can deny that Murray starting exhibiting some leadership qualities in 2nd half of this season. He ran hard, better vision, caught ball well and was vocal presence on field. He was almost beast-like for stretches in multiple games. However, we can't just write-off all those injuries. He is high risk player who will be in a contract year 2014.

why you draft RB here:
Taking RB in this draft buys you insurance for 2014 season and beyond if Murray isn't resigned. I would like to see Dallas take RB with elite speed as they still have Joseph Randle as your change of pace back.

2) With reports surfacing that Romo back surgery actually dealt with ruptured annulus, I think it would be prudent for Dallas to become more of a rushing attack and limit some wear-n-tear on Romo back. The idea being you still have Romo there at end of season if it looks like Dallas can make playoffs.

why you draft RB here:
You buy time with Romo here and become a two-headed rushing attack and sprinkle in some Romo to Dez. It will be tempting for Garrett to continue to use Romo and talented WR core but truth is - bad backs don't get better by having 300+ lineman (with momentum) planting Romo on hard surface.

It really shouldn't. With Murray, Dunbar, Randle that is fine with me. The focus should be on the dline, safeties, oline maybe.

Randle is career back-up at best, Dunbar we don't know too much about and Murray is FA after next season.

The broken record here (me) says...

So glad we took Escobar instead of Eddie Lacy or Felix in the 1st instead of Charles in the 2nd or Randle instead of Zac Stacy for basically free.
You get the picture.

Seriously though, if Murray can somehow stay on the field going forward, we should be fine.

We're going defense in the first round and probably the second. as we should

You might be right BUT that;s not what this team needs right now. RB is way down on the list of what we need. Way down.

I don't know about fine, murray is always one hit away, and the others have ALOT to prove… but I don't know about 1st or second rounds… Free Agency maybe?o_O

I'm fine with it. RBs are a dime a dozen in this league and as I said RB on this team is way down on the priority list.

This will be a defensive minded draft you can bet that.... DT and DE must be addressed. Also you need depth on the offensive line.

That would be line taking another tight end in the second round as we don't use the
. Lord know a rb to Garrett is just for show

If Dallas thinks beyond one season they better think seriously about a plan at QB.

We threw 46 times with Orton and, per some, supposedly JG hijacked the play-calling.... So we draft a guy we won't use even when we have a back-up QB in?

I never want them to draft a RB in the first again. They need to focus on a QB and draft one early.

Good RB's can be had in the latter rounds. Drafting one in the 1st or 2nd round is a waste of a draft pick. They rarely last more than 3 years. I'm sick of Jerry drafting flash. He needs to focus on the lines first.
